Natasha and Chuck immediately clicked as friends when they found themselves working together in higher education. It wasn’t until Chuck began to pursue Natasha more that a seed was planted. However, Natasha was hesitant about accepting this pursuit, so it took some time for this love to bloom. Now, Natasha and Chuck are excited to tie the knot and star their new lives as not just husband and wife but as a beautiful blended family.
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
It began in December of 2013 when Natasha moved back to Dallas from San Antonio. Natasha transferred with her job in higher education, which is where she met Chuck. During their free time at work, they would share stories of their dating experiences, share their aspirations, talk about their political and spiritual views, and flirt here and there. After a short period of time, Chuck started to pursue her more. Natasha noticed the pursuit but was still unsure, so Chuck pulled away in his pursuit and moved on. A month later at a St. Patrick’s Day happy hour, everything changed. Natasha saw Chuck outside of his work attire and more relaxed. He had on a ball cap pulled down low, a hoodie, T-shirt and jeans, and Chuck Taylors…he had some swag. She was trying not to let him know she was feeling him, so she stayed close to her friends. Then it happened. Natasha glanced in Chuck’s direction and it was as if everything started moving in in slow motion. The way he turned and looked in her eyes and smiled…she knew she was hooked. The next day Natasha waited until he left his desk, and put her business card with her cell number on his keyboard.
A year later, a mutual friend planned a cookout. Her boyfriend called Natasha prior to the cookout and said that he was going to propose, and asked Natasha if she would sing “All of Me” by John Legend. At the cookout, it was time for the proposal. Natasha sang and the proposal began. He got down on one knee with the ring in hand and started to propose. Her friend then started telling him, “No, don’t do this.” Natasha could not believe this was happening. In the middle of the madness, Chuck grabbed the ring and said “Let me show you how this is done.” He got down on one knee in font of Natasha and her mouth dropped open. He said the sweetest and most heartfelt proposal, and ended it with “Last year I asked you to be my lady, this year I am asking you to be my wife.”
The engagement session…
Our engagement session took place in the Deep Ellum section of Dallas and we wanted an urban theme.
What did you do on your first date?
We played hooky from work and he took me to the Perot Museum.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We like to check out new events in the metroplex. We will purposefully search for different things going on in the area like, drive inn movies in the park, jazz festivals, hot air balloon festivals, wine tastings, etc…
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been great and exciting. Our venue is booked, colors are chosen, my wedding dress is purchased, the bridesmaids dresses are purchased, invitations are ordered and the wedding website is ready. The groomsmen are getting it together…slower than the women of course. We both have our bachelorette and bachelor parties planned. It’s been smooth so far.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Of course, I am most looking forward to saying, “I do.” But really being able to share in this great experience with our friends and family. There is nothing like loved ones coming together to celebrate. It’s going to be a magical time.
