How we met…
Our love story started the way many modern romances do, with a Swipe Right! We matched on Bumble and Sophie initiated the conversation! After a little virtual conversation, we decided to meet up in person.
The first date…
Our first date started at a Barnes and Noble and ended at a local brewery…sparks flew and the rest is history!
Finding “the one”…
Kamal: I knew Sophie was the one when she stuck with me through a period of rebuilding, and shined effortlessly in every room she was in.
Sophie: I knew Kamal was the one when I finally felt safe enough to drop my guard and live a soft life. His support is so important to my mental wellness!
The proposal…
Sophie: Last year, we bought a house, and Kamal proposed shortly after closing.
Kamal: Once the ring was purchased it made sense to do the surprise proposal in the new house because we still had things in two places. l contacted some of our closest family members and told them the details.
I told them where to park so that Sophie would not see their cars, and provided a key to let themselves in. I made plans for two dinners to celebrate the new home. (Two to confuse her in case she expected the proposal).
On the way to dinner #2, I told her I left my wallet in the new house where we had been painting earlier. I went into the house, confirmed everyone was in location, sprinkled rose petals on the staircase, and called her to come in and help. She walks in, everyone emerges with surprise and I greet her at the top, take her hand, get on one knee, and propose.
Our life together…
The first thing most people notice is that both of us are energetic extroverts! Typically, a relationship is more balanced, but not ours! We are both considered the ‘life of the party’ in our respective and mutual social groups, and we love spending time with our loved ones. We love reading together, traveling the world to immerse ourselves in different cultures, and watching the best quiz game show in television history: Jeopardy!
Getting reading for the big day…
I am actually a local wedding planner in the DC Metropolitan area. My company is Events by Sophie, so planning the wedding has been extra special!
We are looking forward to adding our special design touch to the wedding day and working with our favorite wedding vendor friends for our special day! We have a bunch of gorgeous details planned that we can’t wait to share!!
