This love story is a story about breaking all the rules. Chauncie and Martin discovered that, sometimes, love is waiting right where we don’t expect it. I guess some rules are made to be broken. Their engagement session was creatively photographed by Ayesha of Bedazzled Photography.

The Meeting ….. “Martin and I met at work. We had a company-wide meeting and he claims I gave him ‘the eye’, although I don’t remember seeing him in the meeting at all. Soon after, he introduced himself to me and we became friends. As we grew closer, I started to have stronger feelings for him but I had one strict rule: never to date anyone I worked with. Martin was determined to make me change my mind; so, he emailed me a ‘Rules to Break list’ that had one rule listed: ‘I will not date anyone that I work with’. Needless to say, it was a rule worth breaking and five years later we are getting married!”
The Proposal ….. “Last summer Martin accompanied me and my family on a summer vacation to the Northern Virginia/ DC area. My parents’ 30th Anniversary was during our trip, so I wanted to plan a dinner in their honor to celebrate. On the day of their anniversary, I was running around trying to find the perfect restaurant to host their anniversary dinner. I finally found the perfect restaurant at the National Harbor. During dinner, Martin was asking my parents all of these questions about their relationship and how they lasted 30 years. The conversation was so great that the entire table joined in and started asking them questions as well. At the end of the dinner, I asked everyone if they were ready to leave and Martin said there was one more thing he wanted to say. I was thinking to myself, “What else is there to talk about? We have been talking for over 2 hours.” He started to talk about how much he loved me and my family and how he officially wanted to become a part of my family. As he got on one knee, I realized he was proposing! He asked me if I would marry him, and of course, the answer was YES!!! Now, I realize that all of the questions he asked were all a part of his plan to propose to me that night. It was a special day that I will never forget.”
The Theme ….. “I really have to give all credit to my photographer Ayesha of Bedazzled Photography for the theme of our engagement session. Martin and I didn’t have any ideas on where we wanted to have our shoot; so, we asked Ayesha if she had any suggestions. She suggested the Downtown Sanford and Lake Monroe area and we thought that was the perfect place to take our pictures. Since I wanted to use some of the pictures for our Save the Dates, Ayesha thought it would be a great idea to purchase a save-the-date banner that we could use as a prop. Her vision was perfect and I absolutely loved how the pictures turned out.”
Incorporating Culture ….. “Martin is from the Bahamas so I wanted to make sure we had some photos near the water. Ayesha found some great locations to shoot that captured the beauty of the area and the day. Martin hates taking pictures but I think being near the water relaxed him and, by the end of the shoot, he was a pro!”

He loves ….. “Whenever I ask Martin this question, he always says he loves the way I put everyone above myself: not just him but everyone including friends and family.”
She loves ….. “There are so many things I love about Martin but I think the thing I love the most is how close he has become to my family. I am extremely close to my family and Martin has truly become part of my family. My parents think of him as a son; this would scare most men away but I can tell he truly loves my family and enjoys spending time with them.”
