New York has played a major role in Tina and Jean Claude’s relationship. They fell in love in the “city that never sleeps” and were engaged in Bryant Park. So they set out to have modern a wedding that reflected the chic metropolitan details of the city they love. They took their first look pictures at one of their favorite spots, the Long Island City waterfront! The beautiful boardwalk and city skyline served as a romantic backdrop. For their wedding, the couple envisioned “a minimalist, timeless, classy affair with a beautiful white/ivory palette and subtle impressions of a bold fuchsia.” Ivory table linens and flower arrangements gave their reception space a clean timeless feel, while their fuchsia bridesmaids’ dresses and up-lighting provided pops of color.
The couple’s guests traveled from all of the world, from Canada to Cameroon, to be a part of this special couple’s union, and the fun party atmosphere of their wedding shines in every photo captured by Joshua Dwain Photography. Bryant Park in New York City is always buzzing with activity; however, on the night Jean-Claude proposed to Tina, it was remarkably peaceful and quiet. Bryant decided to tell Tina, his college sweetheart, that a mutual friend had invited them to a “fundraising event” in midtown Manhattan. The plan was to meet at Bryant Park and then walk over to the event together. Unbeknownst to Tina, the whole story was an elaborate plan to get her to the park without suspicion. As soon as they met up, Jean-Claude admitted that there was no fundraising event. A cold and confused Tina became very annoyed, but then Jean-Claude began talking sentimentally about their years together and proceeded to get down on one knee. Tina recalls, “As I stood there in shock, shaking, crying and trying to listen to all he was saying, those 4 words spilled from his lips!!!!! ‘Will you marry me?’ It was simple, beautiful, intimate and so perfect. Turns out one of his photographer friends had been in the shadows capturing every glorious moment of that very special evening.”
New York has played a major part in this couple’s relationship, so they wanted to incorporate aspects of the city into their wedding. They took their first look pictures at one of their favorite spots, the Long Island City waterfront! The beautiful boardwalk and city skyline served as a romantic backdrop.
Their wedding was full chic metropolitan details. Tina shares, “For our wedding we envisioned a minimalist, timeless, classy affair with a beautiful white/ivory palette and subtle impressions of a bold fuchsia.” Tina went for a light and airy dress that complemented her minimalist aesthetic. She wore a simple, yet elegant fit and flare dress with gorgeous feminine lace details. A birdcage veil completed her look by adding a touch of vintage glam. Jean-Claude opted for a striking Ludlow midnight blue tuxedo from J. Crew. Ivory table linens and flower arrangements gave their reception space a clean timeless feel, while their fuchsia bridesmaids’ dresses and up-lighting provided pops of color.
Guests who traveled from all parts of the world, including Canada, Cameroon, England and Wisconsin, enjoyed the easy-going, celebratory ambiance of the couple’s reception. The party atmosphere was set as soon as Jean-Claude and Tina hit the floor for their first dance. Tina recalls, “Our first dance was a surprise mash-up of John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ and Don Omar’s ‘Danza Kuduro.’ Our bridal party (all sixteen of them) along with two of our very cute nephews couldn’t hold their excitement, and they crashed our dance as soon as ‘Danza Kuduro’ came on. It was a beautiful moment that makes the memory even more special as we literally danced with eighteen other people for our first dance!” The bride then wowed guests with a choreographed father-daughter dance mash up! Jean-Claude and Tina truly enjoyed every moment of their fun filled, family centered wedding in the city where they fell in love years ago!
