For Tiffani and Jauwon, the expression “mother knows best” couldn’t be more true.
With both of them having younger brothers in the same basketball program, it was only a matter of time before their mothers, discussing family with each other at an event, would come to realize that they also had older kids attending college together. “They pretty much hooked us up,” Tiffani recalls, looking back on how they first connected. After a classic first date of dinner and a movie, Tiffani and Jauwon were already beginning to realize that for their situation, mother definitely knew best. How did you meet? Our mothers met due to our little brothers playing on the same summer basketball team. They pretty much hooked us up after figuring out that they had older kids attending the same college.
Tell us your proposal story. We traveled to Miami to spend a night on the town before our cruise to the Bahamas. Jauwon planned a romantic dinner for us. As we were eating dinner, a random guy came to our table with a “T. Cain” basketball jersey and told Tiffani that she was Jauwon’s #1 draft pick and Jauwon got on one knee and asked Tiffani to be his wife!
Describe your engagement session. Our photographer, Shira, was amazing! She gave us a few tips and poses to do while also giving us the opportunity to try other poses that we had in mind. She also asked us the cutest questions about each other to get to know us better as a couple and to display genuine emotions in our photos. Our engagement session felt so natural! We were going for a classy theme for one outfit and a Greek theme representing our fraternity and sorority for our 2nd outfit.
What did you do on your first date? Dinner & a movie!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We enjoy going to music concerts together!
How has wedding planning been so far? Our wedding planning has been smoother than expected! We don’t have a wedding planner, but we have enjoyed being hands-on and directly connecting with our vendors. We are both pretty involved in the details & decisions of our big day!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day? We are looking forward to finally becoming one in front of our closest family and friends!
