Childhood sweethearts, Krystle and Sean were instantly drawn to each other as teenagers in 1999. “They spent months hanging out together enjoying each other’s company and being two kids in-love…” Life opportunities would take them on different paths and it would be over sixteen years later that they reconnected, first on social media, and eventually during dinner when Sean asked Krystle out for an evening of catching up over fine dining and great conversation. They talked and laughed the night away. “The connection felt as teenagers just came rushing back and they have been inseparable since…”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Sean and Krystle met in 1999 when they both were teenagers. Instantly drawn to each other they spent months hanging out together enjoying each other’s company and being two kids in-love. As time went by, Krystle and Sean grew up and different life opportunities presented themselves, so they decided to walk down their individual paths and go their separate ways. Years went by and they both lived their own exciting lives not keeping in touch with each other at all. Sean enrolled at UMD and majored in criminology. Shortly after Sean graduated from the University of MD in 2007, Krystle transferred to UMD with a major in Business Administration, graduating in 2009. Though they attended the same college, Sean graduated the same year Krystle enrolled so they never crossed paths. In 2010, when social media became even more popular, Sean found Krystle on Facebook and they became Facebook friends. They talked on Facebook here and there and kept up with each other’s lives through the eyes of social media but never communicated beyond that. Then in February 2016, Sean asked Krystle to dinner to catch up and she accepted. They met that evening at the Hamilton Restaurant in downtown Washington DC and talked and laughed the night away over dinner. The rest was history from there. The connection felt as teenagers just came rushing back and they have been inseparable since.
The Proposal: Sean and Krystle’s birthday are only 2-days apart. Sean being born on April 21st and Krystle being born on April 23rd. Once they began dating again in early 2016, they agreed to always travel and celebrate their birthdays together each year. Well, this year in April 2017, they decided to take a trip to New York City to celebrate their birthdays. Sean knew he had a romantic plan pending all along. On the night of Krystle’s birthday, her and Sean toured the Empire State building to experience the spectacular views at night time. While at the very top floor of the Empire State Building, Sean got down on one knee and asked Krystle to be his wife. It was such a surprising beautiful moment that caught Krystle totally off guard.
Describe your engagement session. We both are UMD Alumni so we thought bringing out our school pride during our engagement shoot would be exciting.
What did you do on your first date? We met up at The Hamilton restaurant in downtown Washington DC for dinner and talked and laughed the night away. We were childhood sweethearts and had not seen each other in over 16 years.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We love to travel the world and we also love to host events together (we’ve hosted cookouts, game night, holiday parties, and more).
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding planning has been pretty smooth thus far, we fell in love with our venue right away, and all the small pieces are coming together…I think the most stressful piece so far is deciding on the final guests list.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day. We are mostly looking forward to having our family and friends in the same building at the same time to share this special day with us.
