This stunning black and white wedding at the 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina, exudes classic elegance.
Amp & Asia first met in 2016. At the time, Amp was attending Newberry College as a freshman and playing basketball. Forty-five minutes away, Asia was studying at Lander University.
One fateful evening, the pair crossed paths at a party. Initially, Asia ignored him. They say “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take,” and Amp wasn’t going to sit this game out! With time and a little persistence, Asia gave Amp a shot and ultimately they both scored big time and fell in love!
Today, the couple lives together in El Paso, Texas. Following years of shared life experiences, Amp proposed on Christmas Day of 2020 in Pensacola, Florida. On November 26, 2022, they officially said “I-do” in a classic black & white wedding at the historic 701 Whaley in Columbia, South Carolina.
Captured by MunaCoterie Photographer, Smitha Lee, and executed by Affluent Affairs, their wedding was filled with special moments including Amp’s emotional first-look at Asia walking down the aisle, a gorgeous wedding dress by Gowns of Grace LLC, and glam makeup by Imonie.

The bride…
Wedding style, attire, & shopping experience…
The wedding was a black-tie event. Asia and her mother, and three best friends went dress shopping in Dallas, Texas. While shopping, the goal was to evoke elegance and romance.
Asia purchased her dream dress from Growns of Grace. She wore an Allure-aligned fit and flare satin dress paired with Gianni Bini diamond crest heels.
Bridesmaids…
The groom…
Amp purchased his tux from a local boutique in El Paso, Tuxedo Shoppe. He recently used the company for his engagement shoot tux, knowing it would be a great fit. Shopping for wedding attire was a dream; we would both do it again if we could.
How they met…
The couple met six years ago in 2016.
Amp was attending Newberry College as a freshman, where he played basketball. Asia attended Lander University. Both schools were within a 45-minute driving distance. You know how college life goes… they met at a party. Amp bugged Asia, but Asia ignored him, and now they both live together in El Paso, Texas!
The couple has grown together over many years into the prosperous adults they are today. They have shared life, death, fear, and, most of all, happiness. As the year’s progresses, Amp and Asia remain dedicated and resilient in their relationship with one another.
The proposal…
On Christmas Day of 2020 in Pensacola, Florida, Amp proposed a teardrop-shaped Vera Wang engagement ring from the Love Collection at the pier. With only Amp and Asia there, it created the most intimate and romantic proposal.
Best wedding day memories…
Asia: The best memory from my wedding was listening to Amp say his vows while watching tears run down his face. At that moment, I knew I had made the right decision.
Amp: The best memory I have was seeing Asia in her dress. Everything looks good on her, but her wedding dress brought out her true beauty.
Our favorite memory together was being surrounded by the support and love of our family and friends.
Advice for other engaged couples…
The best advice we could give to a newly engaged couple is to stay true to your relationship. Most people get lost in the outside voices providing opinions about how your wedding should look or feel. But in reality, it’s about you and your partner deciding to spend your life with another. It’s about your love story.
Find a wedding planner that speaks your language. We got lucky when we were referred to Affluent Affairs. Ms. Kimberly and her team really helped us bring our wants into reality. Secondly, surround yourself with people who genuinely want to see you happy.
Lastly, just have fun! Your wedding day will go by super fast and if you don’t enjoy every minute of your blessings, you’ll regret it.
