Mimi and Norris first crossed paths at a fashion show where she was show-casing for a brand designer.
Asked by a photographer to pose together for a few pictures, Mimi and Norris struck up a conversation in the moment. Noticing her popularity among the fashion show attendees, Norris commented: “Oh you must be popular”. Some playful and flirtatious banter ensued after which Norris gave Mimi his phone number. A strong impression was certainly left on them both, with Mimi saving his contact information in her favorites folder. It wasn’t long before they were planning their first date and have remained inseparable ever since.

Tell us how you met. Norris and I met at a fashion show. He was there with a friend and I was there with a brand I was working with. We were asked to photograph together and as we stood there next to each other we started chatting, I had been there with a follower who had won a day with me and there had been several other folks asking to take pics with me so when Norris leaned in and said “Oh you must be popular” I said (in a flirty soo not obnoxious way!) “Don’t you know who I am?” We laughed and as he would tell it I was flirting and just inches from his face (lies!). He was the one flirting and asked for me to put my number in his phone, which I did and saved it under favorites. The rest is history, we have been together ever since.
How was the wedding shopping experience for you? Being a designer and seamstress the number one question I got asked was “Are you making your dress?” to which I replied, no. I only had six months and with so much going on I didn’t want to stress myself out with adding the making of my dress to the mix. I also knew I was making a second reception look so that was going to be enough work. I went to the bridal salon and tried on at least seven dresses all from this one designer I seemed to be drawn to. There were things I loved about each dress but not one dress had everything I wanted so after the seventh dress the designer came over to see me and asked if I had found something. I explained that I loved a lot of things about many of her dresses and she very kindly asked if I wanted to co-design my dress. I took all the elements I loved from all the dresses, add some of my own, and came up with my gown. Three months later someone else had sewn it and I was thrilled.
Describe your wedding style. Romantic and classic were the vibes we wanted. Red and pink is my favorite color combination and I use it a lot when I sew for myself so that was a no brainer. We also added touches of gold and some greenery. The Fairmont, California has a beautiful giant fig tree that is breathtaking. We had visited the location many times before and knew it would make for a beautiful ceremony if were married under the tree.
What was your best memory from the wedding? Our vows for sure; they were simply amazing! Norris learned his vows and memorized them in Spanish which meant so much to me and my family. We also had a surprise dance that we did that we were so excited about, everyone loved it!
