Nicole and Mailon celebrated their engagement with a classy and cool photo session at Princeton University!
Nicole and Mailon met by chance at a bar in Atlantic City. They were both socializing within their own groups when someone came up to Nicole and her friends and asked if they wanted to take a shot with Mailon’s crew.
At first Nicole and Mailon barely spoke, but later in the night Nicole had liquid courage and asked Mailon’s friend for his number. Mailon promised to take Nicole out on a date once he returned from a family vacation.
I knew she was the one when the day after I met her, I went on vacation and within those seven days all I could think about was the promise I made to take her out on a date when I returned home.
– Mailon
Nicole had no idea Mailon would propose. Looking back, she’s surprised she missed all the clues.
I didn’t suspect anything. Mailon had everyone involved in my proposal, I had no idea what was going on!
– Nicole
Nicole thought she was going to her friend’s engagement party. All of her and Mailon’s friends had a story and played it cool when any questions or potentially suspicious situations arose.
On the day of the proposal, Mailon was so excited and nervous. Nicole could sense his energy was different, but couldn’t figure out why. When they arrived at the winery, Mailon led Nicole into a private room where she immediately noticed all of their loved ones standing there. Then, Nicole saw the “Will you marry me?” sign and it began to hit her.
It was so beautiful, I looked up and saw the “Will you marry me?” sign and was still in complete shock at what was happening. I legitimately had NO idea what I was walking into. Mailon led the way for us to stand in a heart of red roses and he spoke beautiful words and asked me to marry him.

How did you meet?
We randomly met at Bally’s Beach Bar in Atlantic City in the summer of 2016. Mailon was celebrating his birthday when a random woman asked me and my friends if they wanted to do a shot with the birthday boy. We did the shots together and our groups of friends mingled together, we barely spoke.
Later that night when all the groups were out at different nightclubs, I got liquid courage to ask the groom’s friend for his number. We all met up at DuckTown to get food and end the night. Mailon promised to take me on our first date when he returned from his family vacation to DisneyWorld.
Tell us about the proposal.
Nicole: Looking back, it’s so funny all the clues I missed because I didn’t suspect anything.
Mailon had everyone involved in my proposal, I had no idea what was going on! It all started, when my friend sent an Evite for her formal engagement dinner a week before their wedding and said they were going to do a formal dinner since their wedding had more casual vibes.
It was the perfect deterrent from me suspecting anything because it all made sense once they explained why they were doing the dinner. I requested the weekend off from work since Mailon’s best friend was also flying in from CA with his girlfriend that weekend to visit. Another clue I should have picked up on lol! They also had a great cover-up story.
So the day of the dinner, we were all getting ready, it was storming while we were getting ready and I said “I don’t even want to go out into the storm, my friends are lucky I love them” lol. As we are driving to the location, Cafe Aldo Lamberti, Mailon’s speeding and just seems panicked. I asked “Are you okay?”, meanwhile his friend was laughing in the backseat because he knew why he was nervous and acting frantic.
We arrived at the valet and Mailon asked if I could help put on his suit jacket by the car, while his friend and girlfriend went inside. We arrived inside and the hostess asked if we were there for the engagement party and proceeded to escort us downstairs. The hallway was decorated with flowers and candles, it was so beautiful.
Then the waiters opened the private room door, where all of our family and friends were waiting. It was so beautiful, I looked up and saw the “Will you marry me?” sign and was still in complete shock at what was happening.
I legitimately had NO idea what I was walking into. Mailon led the way for us to stand in a heart of red roses and he spoke beautiful words and asked me to marry him. It was such a beautiful and special moment with everyone special to us being there to witness the moment.
Mailon: The process and planning were very stressful.
I traveled to so many venues from NJ to PA trying to find the perfect setting. Also, I made sure that I had a photographer who was a friend of mine there. I had my best friend fly in from California. It took a lot of coordinating. I just wanted everything to be perfect for the perfect moment. Reserving a wine cellar in a restaurant was very fitting, as all of our family and loved ones were in attendance. The day of the proposal I was not nervous until I walked her into the room and saw all the cameras flashing. However, the turnout was perfect and she was so surprised.
When did you know they were “the one”?
Mailon: I knew she was the one when the day after I met her, I went on vacation, and within those seven days all I could think about was the promise I made to take her out on a date when I returned home.
As soon as I landed, I went to meet her and take her out on our first date. I even got us matching Mickey slippers while I was at Disney World lol. The whole trip I mainly spent it on FaceTime with her hoping my vacation goes by fast just to take her out.
Nicole: I knew he was the one when I first realized I loved him and having him become my best friend and partner was something I never wanted to live without.
