How did you meet?
Michael: Tinika and I met on a blind date six years ago. We hit it off from the jump. Every relationship, in the beginning, has its ups and downs, but our ups weren’t too far high, and our downs weren’t too low. We have visited many places together and created so many memories. Hers equals my love of travel. We have the same passion for fine dining and wine. We have made so many paintings together we should open an exhibit. Our relationship has grown over the years, and not even COVID 19 could hamper it. I love everything about her, especially her authenticity and resilience. We got engaged in January 2019 at a Charleston restaurant; we sat in the back of the restaurant by ourselves, very intimate, and that’s where the proposal happened.
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day?
Our inspiration was our venue; we picked Renaissance Baltimore harbor to have our wedding. Our wedding theme is classic traditional with a hint of romance. The conventional wedding never goes out of style, so we want to incorporate that romantic and elegant feeling. A soft color scheme of dusty blue, white/ivory, pale yellow, light peach, and soft green. We did not include any cultural or religious traditions; however, we were happy to get married on Juneteenth, which is observed for celebrating African-American Culture.
Describe your wedding decor and florals
Wedding decor included tall /medium floral arrangements with floating candles. For the ceremony, there were votive candles and rose petals. We included hydrangeas, roses, and soft greenery in the bouquets and centerpieces.
How did you personalize your big day?
We are big candle lovers, so what better way to include them as our wedding favors. Showing our guests how much we appreciated them for joining us in the celebration. We personalized our wedding favor by making our very own candles and adding that romantic feeling.
How did you choose your wedding day look?
We both decided on a classy and elegant look. I wore a Madison James long sleeves lace gown with an open back. The shoes were Manolo Blahnik. Mich wore a Men’s Wearhouse white tuxedo jacket, black pants, and Christian Louboutin shoes.
What was the most anticipated moment of your wedding day?
The most anticipated moment was celebrating our love with family and friends.
What is the best advice you have for engaged couples?
Maximize your budget. Make sure your marriage is a priority and enjoy the experience!
