The commitment we will make in front of our family and friends. To say unashamed and proud that I am hers and she is mine. Separate we are frail and broken, but together we are strong and sturdy through God.
What a strong and profound statement by groom-to-be Kenneth Parker. He knew from the moment he laid eyes on Allison Person, that she was the one. He told her that she would fall in love with him one day. She thought he was he was joking and that he wasn’t serious when he told her that and dismissed it. But when a man in love already has his mind made up, he will be determined to make a woman his queen to be. Three years later, from the day they met as sophomores at Georgia State University to the moment when he got down on a bended knee, Allison was in tears of shear joy and ready to be Mrs. Parker.
These college sweethearts had their Atlanta engagement session where their love first blossomed, and our wonderful photography Coterie member, Andre Brown, was their to capture it all!

Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
How we met: “My fiance’ and I met during our sophomore year at Georgia State University. It was move in day and I was getting off the elevator as he was getting on. I felt it was fate that would have it that we stayed on the same floor. He asked if I was staying on the floor and what my name was. As our conversation was going on, he was completely missing his elevator ride down. I tried to make it clear that I wasn’t interested in being a friend of his. However, he remained persistent. Finally, he caught the elevator down and his parting words were “I’m going to make you love me.” Little did I know he would hold true to his word. Time went by and we developed a “love-hate” friendship until one day he asked me on a date. After a few dates, we decided to become serious and it’s been an amazing journey since. Three years & counting.”
The Proposal: “On June 21,2015, my fiance’ had my father request a specific restaurant, Yardhouse at Atlantic Station, for me to take him on Father’s Day. My dad was on his phone the entire time at lunch which is very rare and he took 2-3 restroom breaks for about ten minutes each. Then he asked me to take him to Kilwin’s (my favorite ice cream place which also happens to be at Atlantic Station) and he was really adamant about going. Then we go to Kilwin’s, and in walked my two best friends (one who came down from Kentucky for the weekend). Then another good friend of mine walked in and they all were saying “Happy Father’s Day.” I’m like “how in the world did the 3 of them all randomly end up here at the same time with me?”. By this time I was crying uncontrollably. My mom, his family members, more of our friends, even my supervisor, co-workers, and last, but certainly not least, my lovely fiance’ walked in. He announced to the store that he wanted to take my hand in marriage, kneeled, and asked me to be his queen forever. It was so amazing and one of the greatest moments of our lives! It is a moment that to this day, still brings me to tears!”
The Engagement Session
“We wanted our engagement session to include Georgia State University since that’s where we met and graduated. We love parks and it was an aspect we wanted to incorporate. Piedmont Park is a popular park in Atlanta with great scenery. Our photographer, Andre Brown, did an amazing job at capturing the beauty in and around us during our engagement session.”
What did you do on your first date?
“We went to Taco Mac and then afterwards, we talked while watching the water show at Centennial Olympic Park’s Fountain of Rings. We were balling on a college budget!”
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
“Cozying up with each other and watching a Law & Order SVU marathon.”
How has wedding planning been so far?
“The wedding planning has been a journey. I really didn’t realize how many details go into planning a wedding. It has been fun, but I can say I can’t wait for everything to come to fruition! I started planning almost immediately which turned out to be a good thing. We decided to move our wedding up since I have most of the major things completed such as the venue, dress, officiant, and photographer. There are just a few more things to do. But the biggest thing is ensuring that my fiance and I are ALWAYS on the same page. I can say that the planning has been easier because we have so much support from our family and friends.”
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
From the Bride to Be: “I’m excited about us being able to pass notes back and forth to each other before the wedding like little kids in middle school. I can’t wait to read the vows of my heart to my fiance’ before God and everyone else. And most importantly sharing the biggest moment of our lives with our family and friends will be a gift to us.”
From the Groom to Be: “The commitment we will make in front of our family and friends. To say unashamed and proud that I am hers and she is mine. Separate we are frail and broken, but together we are strong and sturdy through God.”
