How did you meet?
Our relationship story isn’t a love at first sight kind of story lol. Since I came to Canada, my aunt and friend have been telling me about this girl Moni for a while so I took the plunge to talk to her when I moved to London but things didn’t go as I planned after a week. After two shutdowns by Moni lol, I didn’t totally give up. I still admired her from afar. – Osazuwa
We became friends finally. I realized he is super cool and he jokes a lot, but I needed that because I can be super serious lol. We started talking but our paths just didn’t align that way so we both took our separate paths. – Mon
We didn’t talk for a while until after a retreat. Not sure what I did during the retreat that caught her attention but she claimed that I didn’t do anything special. I would try to believe her lol. She told me even before the retreat she has been thinking about me. It was strange to her because we were not really talking before the retreat and she didn’t understand why she was catching feelings lol, so she prayed about it. We started talking again and that’s how the journey to our forever started. – Osa
What did you do on your first date?
First date was going out to watch a movie.
Tell us your proposal story.
It was your typical Sunday afternoon. We met for lunch and after lunch just sat down in my car talking because it was raining and snowing (typical Canada eh!). As we were talking Osazuwa starts to talk about the future and asked “Will you marry me?” And it was a wrap from then!
When did you know he/she was “the one”?
Moni : it took me over 2 years and two tries before I realized this is the guy I wanted to spend my life with. Although, people around me were waiting for me to actually realize it lol
Osazuwa : When we started dating, we were living in the same city, then I moved to another city because of work. The distance brought us even closer, ironic right? We spent hours on the phone daily which made us learn more about each other. The more we chatted over the phone about all kinds of things (from sports, marriage, reality shows etc), the more I became fascinated with her. She was the first person I spoke with every day and the last person; the first person I spoke with when I get good news and also, not-so-good news. She became my best friend and she makes me a better man. I knew she was the one and I realized that it wasn’t that I couldn’t live without her, but that I really, really didn’t want to.
Describe your engagement session.
We booked studio by house because we loved the different setups. We didn’t have a theme, we left the creativity to the photographer as long as it was simple and elegant.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We are home buddies for sure so anything we can do indoors is always a favorite from watching a tv show, to movies or playing games/puzzles.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has taken different turns with the uncertainty with COVID, however, we’ve decided that we will adjust to the present situation and make our wedding our wedding whatever comes our way.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Saying I do! Starting this journey together and being able to share it with family and friends. For those that will be physically present with us and those that will be present with us virtually too.
