Niambi and Troy-Lee weren’t looking for love when they met at a friend’s party but love made sure these two found their way to each other. Love always finds its way. After taking it slow and enjoying the courting journey, the beautiful couple wed on May 24, 2014 in the breathtaking Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica for a destination wedding with an unforgettable ocean side view. The perfect location, looking out into endless water while making their covenant to honor their infinite love.
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
We met in 2007 through mutual friends at a party in Washington, DC. Neither of us was looking for love, least of all in the hole-in-the-wall spot where the party was being held, but love has a crazy way of finding you when you least expect it.
Troy proposed in 2012 at what was supposed to be a surprise birthday party for his mother – it quickly turned into an engagement party for us with our closest family and friends. The icing on the cake was that he was able to get my family and friends (several of whom live out of town) to attend, so it was a very special night for all of us.
My dress was a classically elegant, strapless, ivory dress with a sweetheart neckline, a mermaid silhouette, lace, and gorgeous beading. My favorite accessory was very sentimental, my grandmother’s vintage watch.
Yes! We did libation and we also jumped the broom!
Memories
My favorite memory was without a doubt the moment we said our vows.
Remember that this is your special day, so it should be a true reflection of your love. Do what feels right to you and your future husband. Don’t let others’ opinions dictate your decisions.
