Coterie Spotlight: Get To Know Lily V Events

Each week we spotlight one of our fabulous Coterie members – our elite selection of wedding professionals. This week the spotlights on Lynn of Lily V Events.   Kick back and learn a little more about her company, new trends for 2013 and 2014 brides, + some fun things you might not have otherwise known about her.

Tell us a little about your background and how you got started in the wedding and events industry?

God put’s a little something in everyone :) and I have always been passionate about decorating, Growing up I was the “go to person” for fashion and styling advice.   After college, I indulged in some interior decorating, and was surprised when my room decor was selected and featured on HGTV’s rate my space, soon after a couple people had asked me to design their houses which I gladly did, but that still wasn’t enough for me.

My passion for weddings started when my friends, just as they would approach me for fashion advice also approached me for wedding advice, details, design, styling, the works…. the energy, enthusiasm and passion i exuded working on every wedding I was approached with made me realize I had finally discovered what I truly love doing and what makes me happy. Everyone should be happy waking up and loving what is before them to earn a living and I am pleased I was able to find what works for me. The journey has been amazing thus far and I look forward to many more rewarding experiences.
What did you do before Wedding Planning/Designing?

I graduated from college with LLB Honors Degree in Law; my primary focus was in the Food and Drug law industry, and soon after, started working for a major pharmaceutical company on their investigative research trials for Oncology patients.
What are your dreams for your company?

I admire industry leaders who have turned their brand not only to a household name in the wedding industry but have become their own industry as a whole and that is one of our mission statements here at LilyVevents.   I want to be able to teach and show people they can achieve their dreams by taking one step closer every day.  That’s how we started, acting on our passion putting the negativity behind us and moving past it.  Today, we are pleased where we are but know tomorrow will even be better.

What do you love most about your job?

The opportunity to make someone other than yourself, your family and your friends….HAPPY is what we strive for. The experience of meeting a stranger and at the end of the day making one of the most important day of their lives memorable is truly fulfilling and we work very hard to achieve that satisfaction from our clients every-time.

In your area what are some of your favorite venues and why?

Hotel Monaco Philadelphia: Not only do they top the charts for Hospitality, they also exude a certain eclectic contemporary appeal for the very chic bride!

Tendenza: Swoon-worthy for the bride looking for a different look for her city themed wedding. Tons of crystal chandeliers,  romantic lighting and crisp lounge furniture.

Waterworks restaurant: For the bride with an eye for a view, this location has breathtaking views, historic exuberance and the food is TDF- to die for!

What trends are you seeing with 2013, 2014 brides?
I think the very obvious observation for 2013 and most likely beyond as the most desired style or theme in the wedding industry will be vintage. A fusion of Lace, Crystals and Art Deco pieces. We have already seen a couple exquisite pieces from Oscar de la Renta, Claire Pettibone and Monique Lhuillier. Since we are very detail oriented, we will be interpreting those styles into our 2013 weddings and events, special pieces adorned with crystals and lace make sure the details shine through.

What would you say to brides-to-be who are on the fence about hiring a wedding planner/designer?

I’m a big advocate for giving recognition to the very involved bride because ultimately the success of a wedding cannot exist without some type of involvement from the couple and their personalities incorporated to make the day what it is.
With that said, I also ask my brides how deeply do you want to be involved, how much stress can you handle, because like it or not, those moments will arise.  This is where a wedding planner/designer can step in to make things easier by alleviating those hassles from them and ensuring the experience for them is truly memorable and everything is planned to precision and executed as planned.

Why should brides choose you as a planner/designer?

At LilyVevents, we CARE…it’s that simple, we care that you have a specific budget you have to work with and would like to stay within, we care that there’s life after your wedding and a start of a new family you have to invest in,  we care that our clients would like to look back and truly remember how beautiful their one special day was, we care about bringing elegance to their wedding and all the special personable details they wanted exhibited to show how much they love each other, we care that our clients care deeply about their friends and family and want to create an amazing experience for them at their wedding, and lastly we care that not only client relationships are established but great start to friendships as well.  Like i said ….it’s that simple :)
