Describe your wedding photography style in 5 words or less.
Glamours, Timeless & Modern
Tell us a little about your background and how you got started in the photography business? My background is the music business. I started a career in music at age 19 and that’s what I’ve done all of my adult life. I had a passion for music and the process of creating. Seeing a song materialize from a kick and snare drum, a few words and melody then become top of the billboard charts is amazing. I was looking to transition out of the music business. My father, who was always into photography, and my sister, convinced me I should start a photography business and 2.5 years ago Andre Brown Photography was born.
What part of the wedding is your favorite to photograph?
I love to photograph the wedding prep. It’s the “Pregame” to the big moment. The kick and snare if you will, of the wedding day. The anticipation rising as the bride and groom get close to the first look or ceremony. It starts to get “real” and the excitement starts to settle in. Those are the important details to me because when they look back at the photos, both the bride and groom can get a feel for what the other was going through prior to seeing each other.
What do you shoot – film, digital or both? I shoot digital. One day I may dabble in film for some personal projects.
What keeps you inspired? Love! Sounds cliche but it’s the truth. I’m a hopeless romantic and as someone who is not married, I get to live vicariously through my couples. As we get to know each other I get to see the love that they share for one another; and each love story is different from the next. It keeps me motivated on my own love journey.
When you’re not shooting weddings, what do you like to do? I love to work out and binge watch TV shows. I also love learning new things so I am a student of my craft as well as a student of life, always looking for ways to improve as a human being as well.
What advice can you give to couples looking for that perfect photographer? I always tell couples to be sure they have a great personal connection with their photographer. The wedding day is long and you will spend more time with your photographer than anyone else on the wedding day so you want to be sure that you get along. I’m silly so my brides love me.
Tell us a location that you’d love to shoot. Of course Paris, the hopeless romantic in me wouldn’t have it any other way. I have to shoot in the place that is most known for love.
Based on your experiences, what would you like every couple to know before their wedding? The wedding day can be stressful, things are going to go wrong but don’t let it bother you. Just enjoy the day! It’s a once in a lifetime experience why spend it stressing. Enjoy yourself, get the full experience.
