Another week, another fab spotlight on one of our Coterie members. We’re chatting it up with Shade of A Conceal Affair, a Texas based wedding and event design firm. Sit back and learn more about how Shade got into the wedding planning business, and a few things you might not have known about her. :)
Tell us a little about your background and how you got started in the wedding and events industry?
Well, started off as a makeup artist and have always loved being involved with weddings. I am an usher in church and was approached to help coordinate a wedding in church, from there I was pretty much told to go for the wedding planning because I had a knack for it. I volunteered a few more weddings before eventually starting my business and also working with another planner.
What did you do before Wedding Planning/Designing?
Lol, actually am a financial counselor in credit and collections.
What are your dreams for your company?
To be a full scale planning boutique that handles everything from styling the bridal party to planning the full wedding journey.
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to help make someone’s dream come through! There is nothing like taking away a bride’s worries and watching her have fun on her wedding day.
In your area what are some of your favorite venues and why?
Would have to say Chateau Cocomar right now!!! That venue is magical. If you have ever thought of having a wedding in a French or European setting , its perfect for it!!! So many possibilities there!
What trends are you seeing with 2013, 2014 brides?
The trends I’m seeing this year are brides actually being really inspired to think outside the box!! Getting a lot of creative brides this year and next year :)
What would you say to brides-to-be who are on the fence about hiring a wedding planner/designer?
It is a choice but a very important choice to make. Having a planner not only helps alleviate the stress but also the overall planning process. Most planners are very knowledgeable of the industry and have also worked with most of the vendors needed…they are able to guide you towards the right direction of your wedding day and also, help be the extra eyes to implement your vision.
Why should brides choose you as a planner/designer?
It’s one thing to do something, and it’s another to do it with passion! I love planning weddings not only because of the glam behind it, but the actual working behind the scenes to make sure everything the bride wants, she gets on her wedding day plus more! I definitely don’t put any stops to make sure she gets an amazing affair, my love for details makes it even more interesting!
Now let’s have some fun!
What’s in your handbag right now? curel hand lotion, my iPhone, lipgloss and wallet …loliphone, blackberry or android? team iphone ~ that thing is a life saver
Mac or pc? Mac ~ makes work fun!
If you could travel to any location right now, where would it be? hmmmmmmm, would have to say Dubai~
