Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Well, we have always been around each other because we stayed in the same town. His friends were like family to us so that’s how we became close. I was actually dating someone else at the time but as soon as I ended it with my ex, he wasted no time! We instantly got closer. I graduated high school back in 2007, and we’ve been together ever since. Yes a VERY LONG TIME!
The Proposal – Oh my god! Where do I begin! We all know he’s not the most mushy man, but his proposal meant the world to me. A week before Mother’s Day my mom asked me to have a cookout at my place with the family. At first I told her no way! Too much cleaning and cooking! She then agreed to do ALL of the cooking if I said yes to it. I told her I’ll think about it! A few days later I agreed. Now when she says “family” I figured just the few that’s always around, which is mom, sis, bro, in-laws, and a few friends. However, a few days before everyone started calling, asking the time we’ll start. So I kind of started wondering…
So on the day, my house was packed. Even my dad popped up, so that’s when I KNEW! After about an hour or so into everyone mingling, I was pulled by my father to sit in a chair and all of a sudden “R.Kelly” came on blasting “Marry Me.” Norbert must have been so nervous it took him about 10 minutes to walk into the living room. Before getting down on one knee, he asked my dad for his permission to propose. They shook hands and my dad of course said “yes.” He then dropped down to the floor, and asked, “D’Andranee will you marry me?” I was so shocked I didn’t know if I wanted to smile or cry because I waited for this for years! I said “YES” and then the tears started to flow! Everyone was screaming and videoing. That was the BEST DAY EVER! I will never forget!

What did you do on your first date? After letting everyone know we were trying the dating thing out, we went on a double date. My best friend and his best friend were actually liking each other on the side, so we decided it’ll be fun to go out and hang. Our first date in public was at Joe’s Crab Shack. We both loved crabs so we figured that was gonna be a perfect place to just relax. I can definitely remember it like yesterday. That’s the most I’ve ever laughed in my entire life. He definitely made me feel like we’ve been together for years.

How long have you been together? Since I was 18 years old, and I’m now 28…a very long time.

What do you love most about him? The thing I love most about him is that he puts his family first! Not just my kids, but his kids from his previous relationship as well. He’s an awesome provider!

What do you love most about her? In his words, “the thing I love most about Dee is her loyalty! It’s never questioned!”

How did you know she was the one? He states, “Well the first few years was beyond great and I wouldn’t change it for a thing. Now, I know she’s the type to keep the last word, she won’t let things die down without a debate, and most of all she’s tougher than people may think. And at that point I knew if someone challenges me that much, she’s a keeper! I love her to the moon and back. I wouldn’t trade her for anything.”

What are you looking forward to most as a newlywed couple? Bride – Well, I mentioned I wanted to have ONE more kid, however I’m not convincing him so much! He said we have enough now and a dog, we don’t need anymore. So, if I don’t convince him by then I guess I’ll try to take more trips together and enjoy life!
Groom – “As a newlywed couple, I want to enjoy each other 100% more than we do now! I want us to become stronger partners together and reach our future goal set.”
