Sarah Jassir’s beautiful career proves that our mothers are more than just our champions; they are also our best mentors. Sarah grew up watching her mother make exquisite gowns for her clients, and began her journey as a designer at the amazingly young age of 13! Whimsy, femininity and grace are just a few words that come to mind when you experience the wonderful designs of Sarah whose career has spanned over 20 years.
It was our pleasure to catch up with Sarah Jassir, and we’re excited that you get to meet her, too.
How did you get your start in the bridal industry?
Always passionate about fashion, I spent most of my early years in my mother’s atelier, watching and learning from her making exquisite gowns for private clients. It was the day I made my first lace skirt that my destiny as a designer was sealed. From then on, it was the start of a love affair with fashion, especially bridal fashion. I later had the opportunity to work with the likes of Vera Wang, Amsale, and Valentino.
What kind of woman is the Sarah Jassir bride?
My bride is confident, sexy, glamorous, and knows exactly what she wants out of life.
Brides always seem to have their ideal dress in mind before purchasing it. What dress style have you noticed seem to be a style favorite of brides to be?
Every bride has different taste. They like to choose according to what looks best on them. The bride wants to be the best version of herself for that special day. This past season the sheath dress has become more popular. Brides want to feel sexy, comfortable, and romantic.
Congratulations on launching your Spring 2012 Collection during Bridal Market in NYC. What was the inspiration behind this collection?
The 2012 collection entitled “Desire” introduces more daring and more modern designs. The motivation for this collection comes from the idea that desire is the driving force in every woman. My Inspiration for this collection was love, passion and romance. I wanted to open and close the show with something new, fresh and different; still traditional but with modern edge. My favorite look was the short strapless dress named “Adore”. It’s chic and fun. My finale“Romance” is traditional yet sexy in a modern way.
What are your aspirations as a designer?
As a designer, I would like to see my collection carried in the best stores around the world, launch a ready to wear collection, open free-standing SARAH JASSIR boutiques, and encourage other women to pursue their lifelong dreams.
In three words, how would you describe your new collection?
This collection can be described as follows:
Bold, daring, and feminine.
Any designer who is as passionate about her craft as Sarah is absolutely ideal. When she combines that passion with her desires to make every bride beautiful and encourage other women to pursue their dreams, you know she’s a keeper. Visit Sarah’s blog and website to stay in touch and keep up with her latest collections.
Sarah, may your wonderful career continue for many more years and may all your desires come true.
