Many couples feel like they are in paradise on their wedding day, but Koryn and Joel were a in literal nirvana during their destination wedding in San Juan Puerto Rico. The couple’s wedding theme was a “romantic evening in paradise,” and their nuptials took place on the beach overlooking the mesmerizing ocean. Not wanting to compete with the natural beauty of their surroundings, the couple kept their decor simple and romantic. A vibrant color scheme of coral, silver and white played perfectly with their island landscape, and Keith Cephus Photography expertly captured every breathtaking moment of their intimate union.

Wedding Description
Our wedding was a destination wedding in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is where my husband and I first met, so this location has a lot of sentimental value. The actual wedding planning went very smoothly, for the most part. We really had no major complications, as we were blessed to work with a phenomenal destination wedding planner – Sarah-Jane Bennett – one who had experience planning weddings in Puerto Rico. The only hiccups in our planning included having to find an officiant for the wedding, when our minister was no longer able to officiate our wedding due to a family emergency, and not being able to test out the hair salon/stylist, who would do my hair for the wedding. In the end, both the officiant that we chose and my wedding look were perfect – our wedding day was beautiful and more than we could ever ask for.
Wedding Style
I like to describe our wedding day style as a “romantic evening in paradise.” Since our wedding location was outdoors in Puerto Rico, with a beautiful beach backdrop, we decided to keep the look simple, yet elegant and romantic. The colors we chose were Coral, White and Silver. I was also very fortunate to find my wedding dress on my first trip to David’s Bridal. I knew I wanted a dress that was sleeveless, classic and form-fitting… and that dress ended up being the 3rd one I had tried on. It was a Galina Signature dress – Organza and Tulle High-Low Gown with Beaded Flower Style. My advice to brides-to-be would be to have in mind the type of dress you’d like, but be somewhat flexible. Also, choose only a small, trusted group of core friends and/or family to help you decide on the dress. I brought my twin sister along with me!
Incorporation of Culture
No, our wedding was intimate and traditional, for the most part. Having the location in Puerto Rico brought in a lot of cultural elements however, including some Latin & Caribbean music, which we played during the reception.
Most Memorable Moment
Other than seeing it all come together so beautifully, I’d say the most memorable part was reading our vows. We decided to write our own vows, so hearing his vows to me, for the first time, was incredibly touching. Plus, I was so overwhelmed and happy in that moment, that I cried while reading my vows to him. Therefore, the vows segment was a very touching moment in the ceremony.
You Make Loving You So Easy
From the Groom… My smile… one of the first things things that stood out the most to him about me was my smile. He lovingly calls it his “favorite smile.”
From the Bride…His warm and loving personality. Whenever I’m around him, and even when I think of him, he makes me feel so incredibly safe and loved. It’s indescribable!
