Featured in MunaLuchi Bride Magazine, Issue 28, red and pink florals bloom in this timeless wedding at the Atlanta History Center.
Dominique and Trae first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party in May 2020 – socially distanced of course! And while the pandemic was at the forefront of everyone’s minds, these two quickly found themselves focused on love.
One year later, Trae proposed over an intimate dinner followed by a surprise gathering at their best friend’s home. The next day they flew to Ft. Washington, Maryland, to celebrate their engagement with friends and family.
Their 2022 nuptials at the Atlanta History Center were everything classic and timeless with gold decor details and dramatic florals in hues of red and pink. The couple was also very intentional about keeping God and their love for one another at the center of their special day. Dominique shares, “We wrote our own vows and wove scripture into every part of our ceremony.”
At the end of the day, beyond all the special details, when looking back at their wedding day, Dominique admits: “…[I] married my best friend and that’s all I needed to make the day special.”

The bride…
How they met…
We met through mutual friends at a birthday party in May 2020 – socially distanced of course!
The proposal…
Trae proposed over dinner in Atlanta and planned a surprise gathering of our best friends at our home afterward. The next day we flew to Ft. Washington, MD to celebrate with my family!
Wedding attire & style…
Trae and I both wanted our wedding style to be classic and timeless. We knew we were bringing the drama with our florals and wanted the intimacy of our vows and our love for one another to be the focal point. As a bride, I wanted my natural beauty to shine through because without the embellishments is how Trae loves me the most.
Wedding shopping experience…
Shopping for our wedding was fun and short for both of us! I had a very clear idea of my bridal look and the designer I was interested in. It was fun to try on lots of silhouettes but ultimately I knew what I wanted so it only took a few outings to find the look!
The ceremony…
Cultural elements…
Not culture per se, but we were very intentional about keeping God and our love for one another at the center of our day. We wrote our own vows and wove scripture into every part of our ceremony. We also made sure to remember our loved ones who have passed and of course, jumping the broom!

Favorite wedding day memories…
It is so hard to choose! Honestly, every part was amazing and a day we’ll never forget. From getting ready with our family and friends who’ve known us long before we met each other, to being declared husband and wife, it was all incredible and we really tried to stay as present and centered in the moment as we could. But if we had to choose, celebrating with our family at the reception takes the cake. Seeing the joy on my husband’s face and being surrounded by everyone we love was an indescribable feeling!
Wedding advice for other engaged couples…
Keep your love at the center and prepare for the marriage above everything! The wedding was amazing and the best day of our lives but if every detail had fallen through – which trust me, PLENTY went wrong on our day – I still married my best friend and that’s all I needed to make the day special.
