Isidora and Humberto tied the knot at their dreamy autumn wedding featuring regal fashion, elegant decor, and romantic florals!
Isidora and Humberto were introduced through Isidora’s Aunt at her cousin’s birthday party. They hit it off immediately and after talking for two hours, exchanged numbers, and soon after went on their first date.
Humberto planned a surprise proposal dinner for Isidora and their families. Isidora had a feeling Humberto was going to propose, especially since he made sure she got her nails done and dressed up, but she didn’t overthink it. During the dinner, he thanked everyone for coming and then admitted that there was another reason as to why he wanted to bring everyone together. He got down on one knee and proposed to Isidora. Isidora shares, “From there on all the words were a blur and my hand wouldn’t stop shaking.”
Isidora and Humberto wanted to give themselves and their beloved guests the experience of their lives at their dreamy, regal autumn wedding. They meticulously thought out every detail, from the decor to the food and music, and everything in between.
We thought out every detail of our wedding from the men’s gold initial brooch to the late night snacks. We wanted the guests to be taken into a dreamy fall wedding experience. We received feedback from our guests saying it was the best wedding they’ve attended in their lives…

How did you meet?
Humberto and I met at my cousin’s, (which is his childhood friend as well) birthday party. We were introduced by my aunt who also worked with Humberto. We talked for over two hours at the party and exchanged numbers, and later went on a date and hit it off. He proposed six months into the relationship.
Tell us about the proposal.
He planned a surprise dinner with his sibling, my siblings, and our moms. He had me get my nails done and asked me to get all dolled up. I kind of had a feeling he was going to propose but I had blocked it out of my mind not wanting to be disappointed. We sat, ate dinner, and after we were done he got up and started thanking everyone for coming and talked about how he wanted to bring our families together. Then he said, “There’s another reason we are here…” and he got down on one knee. From there on all the words were a blur and my hand wouldn’t stop shaking.
Wedding Style:
My dress was a last-minute desperate purchase. I had originally ordered a custom dress 10 months ahead from this store in NY. The dress arrived one and a half months before my wedding and it wasn’t what I asked for and the fit was horrible. I was traveling back and forth from Boston to NY and with less than six weeks left I found a vendor on IG and took a leap of faith and ordered my dress.
Within the same day, I was able to rush to my seamstress and have her take my measurements and purchase the dress. They were able to complete my dress in three weeks and it arrived in three days after shipping. The dress was made to my measurements and fit like a glove. My bridesmaids wore an ivory mermaid dress and the groomsmen wore a burnt orange suit with a gold initials brooch.
Did you incorporate any culture into our wedding?
We are Cape Veardean, which is off the west coast of Africa. For our intros our wedding party did afrobeats, my husband and I did a choreographed dance and for our first dance, we danced to a Cape Veardean song.
What is the best memory from your wedding day?
The best memory was how calm I was. I took the advice that people had given me about enjoying the day and not getting wrapped up in the mishaps. Although we had some small hiccups, I was able to let it roll off my shoulder and I thoroughly enjoyed my day from start to finish. I will say it did help that I packed an emergency kit with sewing supplies, tide pens, hair pins, etc..
Everyone kept asking me if I was excited, but the excitement hadn’t been kicking in yet. I remember sitting in the makeup chair and I hadn’t seen or spoken to my husband in two days (we have spoken every day since we were together), and I remember that every time I thought about seeing him in his suit I would get excited. My heart would flutter and all I could wait for was to see him.
What is the best advice you have for engaged couples?
My advice is to plan as far in advance as possible and to be organized. I ordered an Excel sheet that was prepopulated for me with a budget sheet, guest list, seating chart, and misc. The more organized and detailed you are the less stress you’ll have on wedding day. Communicate with vendors and the wedding party clearly and give instructions on when and where they need to be.
On my wedding day, my phone wasn’t ringing off the hook because I had made sure everyone knew exactly where to go. I was able to enjoy the whole day from start to finish. Lastly, every detail may not go as planned, but just remember you are the only one who knows what you have planned so if it doesn’t go according to plan, no one will know.
