It’s never too early to plan your dream oceanside wedding. La Keisha, a Digital Media Executive and Marc, an Investment Banker exchanged vows while overlooking the Pacific Ocean during a picture perfect summer evening.
The couple, who met while studying at Harvard, celebrated their union on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at The Montage Hotels & Resorts with 110 guests after quite the creative Christmas proposal. More on this below!
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
Marc was a student at Harvard Business School while La Keisha ran the school’s media non-profit, called the Harbus. Marc saw La Keisha’s profile in the paper’s annual Valentine’s Day issue and sent her an email inviting her to check out his “panel” at the school’s Africa Business Conference. We met that weekend at the conference and started dating pretty much from that point on.
The proposal is directly related to how we met. Marc planned the proposal by designing a special edition of the Harbus, complete with every special moment of our relationship documented through pictures and short stories. Some of the moments included spending a few weeks together in Nairobi, Kenya, taking a July 4th holiday to Zanzibar, Tanzania, retreats with classmates throughout New England, our first Brooklyn Nets game together, etc. My family is from Southern California and every Christmas we take a family vacation to Palm Springs, California so Marc proposed by presenting the “La Keisha Edition” of the newspaper page by page in front of my entire family during Christmas in 2014. The last two pages of the newspaper had the words, “Will You… Marry Me?”
Wedding Style
The wedding dress shopping process was pretty quick and easy. I picked my Lazaro dress in only two visits!
Culture
Marc is Haitian so we had Haitian artist, Wanito perform at the reception. It was incredible! Wanito sang Haitian Kompas songs in Creole and French as well as a couple of English songs. It was very unique and the wedding guests absolutely loved it.
Memories
One of our favorite memories is the thank yous during the reception. We went around the room and acknowledged our appreciation for the family and friends that came from all around the world including South Africa, South Korea, Haiti, Dubai, New York, DC, Chicago, and the list goes on.
