Tell us how you met and all about the proposal. Rino and I met for the first time through a mutual friend while I was on a spring break visit home in 2003, we exchanged contacts and began to keep in touch via MSN and occasional phone calls. After a few months the spark was just not there, so the messaging and calling faded. Fast-forward to October 2008 at the Harbor Island Regatta. I recalled myself standing up waiting for my friends when Rino and I made eye contact, he nodded his head to signal for me to come over to him. I gave him an annoyed look because of his request and blatantly said no! Then he decided to do the right thing by coming over and greeting me. Noticing all of his gestures as he spoke to me, I remembered saying to him, “sweetie don’t get in no trouble out here.” His response was, “that’s straight, no worries.” After his response I realized he had a girlfriend – sigh! Nevertheless, he and I still exchanged numbers and after a fun-filled weekend, we both went back to our everyday lives. We would occasionally check on each other thereafter. During one of our MSN chit-chats, the annual Exuma Regatta was one of our topics of discussion. We both agreed that we will be going and hope to see each other. In April 2009, at the Exuma Regatta, I recalled myself on the site having a great time with a few friends when I suddenly spotted Rino walking smooth and fine as ever with his friends. I whispered to one of my friends, “come with me right quick.” I walked over to Rino and said, “hey Badways! What’s going on?” He did a little smile and said, “right here chilling!” I asked, “what are you doing later?” He responded that they were going to be at a place called peace and plenty, so I said, “great, I’ll meet you there.” That evening, I went home got all dolled-up and I was ready to meet up with him. We met as planned and enjoyed the evening with cocktails and laughter. At the end of the night we said our goodbyes and promised to keep in touch. The following morning we saw each other again at the Airport where Rino was headed back to Nassau and I was headed back to the US. I said to him “let’s see how long I will have to wait on a call.” He smiled. Monday Morning, I decided to message Rino because I had some unanswered questions and mix feelings. “Are you seeing someone,” I asked. Rino answered “something like that.” That was not the answer I wanted to hear so I entertained small talk, a few more times and that was the end of us.
On May 30th, 2009 my Dad hosted a Concert featuring a popular Jamaican artist followed by a pool/beach party by a placed called the Sandtrap where I was again having a blast with my cousins and who should touch my shoulders, Rino! I said to him, “what are you doing out here?” Of course his response was, “I’m only passing through babes.” As I blushed, he said “I didn’t even know that you were in town?” I said, “I just decided to come in town last minute, it really wasn’t planned.” From May 31st 2009, I said to myself, this is it! He is going to be my boyfriend very soon. Rino and I began dating soon thereafter. We made our relationship official late August of 2009.
The Proposal: August 19th 2017, I was at Rino’s Residence getting dressed to host our Foundation’s First Annual Scholarship luncheon when suddenly he caught me by surprise… I was putting my earrings in and he came and hugged me by the waist from behind then asked if I was ready to be his wife? At that point I looked in front of me, wow, the ring box was there! I was so shocked I could not stop smiling. Rino placed the ring on my finger and we held each other for a minute with so much emotion. Now we are here planning for our big day

What did you do on your first date? Our first date was pretty simple, Rino picked me up from my parents’ home and we drove around Nassau conversing and enjoying each other’s company. We stopped at one of his favorite beaches with a breath-taking view as we got to know each other better.
What are your favorite things to do as a couple? Our favorite thing to do as a couple is travel. We enjoy experiencing new adventures together.
Describe your engagement session. Our Engagement Session consisted of two days of shooting. The session was one of a kind. I knew I had to execute my theme “Elegant Vintage Winter Wonderland Chic,” so I did what it took of me to do just that. Rino, on the other hand was very nervous because he had no clue what the sessions entailed. On days one and two of the shoot the snow poured, even more on the second day, I was beyond elated for the shoot to begin. Rino was very cold and could not believe that I wanted us to take photos in the cold two days back to back. I was just so excited the cold did not bother me at all. Rino was also excited, just not about the cold, however he cooperated just for me which made the job for our photographer very easy in creating some of the most creative shots.
How did you know they were “the One”? Keisha: I knew Rino was the one for me because he brought a balance to my life. Although Rino was shy, he was also humble, affectionate and caring. The characteristics he posses made him the one in my eyes!
Rino: Keisha was a woman of class, full of energy, dependable and exposed me to a lot of new experiences. Although her most noticeable trait was her strong commanding personality, I encouraged her to channel it into areas of education and vocational progress. She simply never gave up on anything that she was trying to achieve – making her the one for me.
How has wedding planning been so far? Wedding Planning so far has been very exciting and fun filled. My Mom and I have been working together bouncing ideas back and forth which is making the whole process nothing but memorable. We cannot wait to see the final product!
