It started off as a true teenage love affair for Joshua and Quanesha. They initially met at a high school basketball game in 2008.
Quanesha shares, “our schools were opposing teams. I was a cheerleader for my school, and he was on the basketball team.” They exchanged numbers, but they didn’t start dating until December 2009. They had no idea that their high school flirtations would turn into a serious 10-year relationship.
Quanesha was expecting Joshua to propose on their 10-year anniversary, but he surprised her by proposing at his family’s annual Trunk or Treat event. Quanesha recalls, “We were dressed as the Flintstones. He was Fred, I was Wilma, and my daughter was dressed as Pebbles!” They were surrounded by family; it was the perfect heartwarming proposal.
For their engagement shoot, they keep it classy with an elegant city session at the Virginia State Capitol. See all of the beautiful images captured by Images By Geneva below.

How did you two first meet?
Quanesha: We met in 2008 at a high school basketball game, our schools were opposing teams. I was a cheerleader for my school, and he was on the basketball team. I was approached by Joshua’s younger brother saying that he was interested in me but he was “shy.” We ended up exchanging numbers but we didn’t actually communicate much after that night. In 2009. we reconnected by going on a double date that was set up by our closest friends. We began dating in December of 2009 and its been history ever since.
Give us all the details about the proposal.
Quanesha: Joshua proposed at his family’s’ annual Trunk or Treat event. We were surrounded by both of our families. We were dressed as the Flintstone. He was Fred, I was Wilma, and my daughter was dressed as Pebbles! He had asked my parents for permission and told them he wanted to do it on a day I would least expect it. I was so busy planning our outfits, decorating our trunk, and making treats that the idea of him proposing slipped my mind. I was actually expecting him to propose on our 10-year anniversary which was coming up. As we were presenting our trunk, he got on his knee and asked me to marry him!!!
What makes your relationship unique?
We believe we are the perfect balance for each other. Although we are both Scorpio’s, our personalities can be so different at times. Joshua is an introvert and I’m more of an extrovert. The foundation of our relationship is our bond and friendship that we have had since we first met. We value our time alone laughing and enjoying each others company. We treasure our date nights together, trying new restaurants and staying home watching our favorites TV show “The Office.”
How did you know your partner was the one?
Joshua: When we started talking about our future together I knew you were the one. I realized you wouldn’t give up on me, judge me and always supported me. You have always pushed and motivated me to be a better man. I knew from the beginning when we first started dating that I would make you my wife.
We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
I absolutely love my Ring! It is very simple but elegant. It is a princess cut rose gold ring.
Are you excited to start planning your wedding day?
Yes, we started planning our wedding as soon as we got engaged. We will be getting married on November 28, 2020 at the Inn at the Old Silk Mill in Fredericksburg, VA.
