It was New Year’s Eve of 2008 when Lindsey met the man that would become her husband. They’d been attending the same party in Charlotte, NC when Justin approached her saying “I was hoping you didn’t catch me staring at you.” Lindsey, a hopeful romantic, fell for his smooth operation and proceeded to give him her phone number. The pair talked, texted, and emailed each other throughout the week, eventually getting together with a group of friends a few weeks later. For the next few years they loved from a distance–as Lindsey was living in South Carolina–enjoyed vacations, road trips, intimate discussions, and triumphed through a few other moves that would ultimately bring them together in Atlanta.
The Four Seasons Hotel hosted Lindsey and Justin’s elegant affair. Gold chiavari chairs, white roses and baby’s breath made for a simple and classic design. Take a look at their elegant Four Seasons wedding in Atlanta, with photography by Erika Brown Photography.

Tell us all about the proposal!
He tricked me into going to Charlotte. We were supposedly going to an awards ceremony for one of his friends. Our first stop that night was at the Ballentyne Hotel- the same place we met! They have events and parties there all the time- I thought nothing of it. We ventured out onto the balcony before we were to join the ceremony. That’s where he asked me to marry him. I was in a state of complete shock, but still managed to say YES! So that’s it- end of story right? Not even close. Hands and legs shaking, we managed to continue on to the awards ceremony- because there was an awards ceremony, or so I thought. We were staying at the Ballentyne that evening so we had to make a quick stop to the room before heading to the actual ceremony. Get to the room and there is my best friend who lives in New York! God-is (who I talk to everyday) was live, in living color, in the room! I was shocked. Justin’s best friend was there too. It was great, but it gets better. Finally we’re headed to the awards ceremony- why I still think there is an awards ceremony. Get to uptown Charlotte; go to a bar that’s been reserved for said ceremony celebration. Walk in…party for us! Seriously, so many of my friends are there. I’d legit had contact with 90% of the people that same day. No one acted suspiciously or said anything that could’ve given the surprise away. Kudos to all of them! I couldn’t have planned/asked for/dreamt of a better way to begin our engagement! Of course now I can say it was totally worth the wait.
Describe your wedding dress.
My wedding dress was totally opposite of what I thought I wanted. My dress was a beautiful princess gown with a fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline, and amazing jewel and pearl details.
How was culture incorporated in your wedding day?
Justin and I jumped the broom. We just really like the symbolism of it- represents the sweeping away of the old (our past) as we come together; but more than that it’s a nod to our ancestors who once weren’t afforded the opportunity to wed and this was their way of announcing themselves and recognizing their commitment to each other.
What is your favorite memory from your wedding?
From start (engagement) to finish (wedding) the process was lots of fun! My favorite memory from our wedding day was our entrance to the reception. It was so exciting to see all of our family and friends there to celebrate us. We were finally married and everyone, especially us, was thrilled! The energy was high and that moment was unforgettable.
What advice would you give to our brides-to-be?
Take the help! So many people will offer to help you do small things, if you trust them, let them do it. It saved us so much time to have parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen that would literally drop whatever they were doing to help us. Also, at the very least and if possible- hire a day of coordinator. Ours was a “month of coordinator” and she was amazing, and also a Godsend! There wasn’t one detail that I was worried about on the day of our wedding.
