Vonsia & Jamison tied the knot at their elegant spring wedding in North Carolina! Their wedding is featured in MunaLuchi Bride Magazine, Issue No. 26!
Despite going to the same high school, Vonsia and Jamison never spoke until after they graduated when Jamison decided to spontaneously DM her. This led them to go on their amazing first date, where they had dinner and talked all evening until the restaurant closed. From that point, they both declared their intentions and dated for eight wonderful years before their wedding day.
On the night of the proposal, Jamison had two surprises in store for Vonsia. Vonsia thought she was attending an office Christmas party with her mom, when in fact, Jamison organized a surprise birthday party with all her closest family and friends. What was already an amazing night turned out to be even more special when Jamison asked Vonsia to join him in front of everyone and got down on one knee. Vonsia shares, “Everyone started screaming. I knew then what he was about to do…It was absolutely perfect and unexpected.”
Captured by Muna Coterie member, In His Image Photography, their beautiful spring wedding featured warm orange hues and elegant decor, enhanced by candlelight and the perfect amount of sparkle. The love and positive energy from their family and friends made the celebration even more memorable.

How did you meet?
Jamison and I attend High School together. Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School in Raleigh NC. We knew each other, but we never spoke to one another. Jamison and I also attended the same church. I was actually on a girl’s trip in Miami when Jamison slid in my DM’s via Facebook at the time…lol. Some time passed and we went on our first date to Sushi-O downtown Raleigh, and it was absolutely amazing. We literally sat in the restaurant all night, until they closed. After that first date, we let our feelings/intentions be known, and Jamison truly courted me like a true gentleman. We have been together eight years prior to getting married.
Tell us about the proposal
I thought I was attending a holiday Christmas party for my mother’s job. Upon arriving my mom and I were making small talk while walking up to the door of Seasons 52. As we approached the private room, the doors opened. I heard everyone say ‘SURPRISE” and saw all of my closest friends, family, with balloons. I then realized it was a surprise birthday party for me. The night was absolutely amazing, being able to spend time with family and friends.
Towards the end of the night. Jamison asked me to stand up and thank everyone for attending (I don’t like speaking in front of people). After speaking Jamison stood up and thanked everyone for coming out and being a part. At the closing of Jamison’s speech he made a comment and said “Vonsia I have one more question to ask you”, and everyone started screaming. I knew then what he was about to do. Jamison got down on one knee and proposed to me. It was absolutely perfect and unexpected. We flew out a few days later to LA for my birthday, which is New Year’s Eve. What an amazing way to bring in Christmas, my Birthday, and the New Year.
Tell us about your ceremony venue and what attracted you to it
The exposed brick, the multiple rooms we had access to, and the open floor plan.
Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day?
We were originally supposed to get married in the fall on November 19th, 2020. However covid 19 happen, and caused us to push our wedding back tremendously. So we decided to get married in spring, on May 13th, 2021. The colors we selected were based on the season we were originally getting married in which was fall.
So Jamison and I decided to keep the colors which were burnt orange, ivory, cream, champagne, and a hint of gold.
The change that was made was the men’s tuxedos. Jamison changed the colors from Chocolate to Black Tuxedos. The colors were absolutely perfect and still went perfectly with the new spring season we were getting married in.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
We did communion together for the first time as a married couple.
How did you decorate the space for your ceremony and reception?
The space was decorated very simply yet elegant. The burnt orange flowers throughout the venue that JL Evans put together were perfect, as well as the huge statement piece on the candle wall. We were married in front of the candle wall, and we had our sweetheart table placed in front of it as well. Nothing was DIY, however, I highly consider creating the candle wall.
Florals
The florals were bright and beautiful, they covered my wedding backdrop on my candle wall, as well as the tables during the reception. We had large statement flowers at the end of the aisle, and on the estate tables.
Wedding Fashion
We both are truly into fashion so when it came to making selections and running ideas by one another that was very easy.
Jamison designed both of his wedding day looks (yes, he did a wardrobe change), all the tuxedos for the groomsmen, the ring bearer, our fathers, and the ushers. He is the owner of the Robert Jamison Collection which specializes in custom made-to-measure menswear. Jamison special ordered his fabric from Huddersfield Cloth located in England.
For the ceremony, Jamison wore an ivory houndstooth pattern tuxedo jacket, black trousers, a white shirt, a black butterfly bow tie, and custom Robert Jamison Collection slippers. For the Reception, he changed into a 3-piece burnt orange suit, white custom shirt, black bow tie, and custom Robert Jamison Collection slippers.
What’s your favorite image from your wedding day?
Call me crazy but it was the first selfie we took together. It was authentic and raw. I also loved my wedding portrait.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
Enjoy being engaged, have fun, and don’t allow anyone to rush you when it comes to planning.
