Katurah and Jeffrey, who tied the knot on April 24th, 2024 in Turks and Caicos, celebrated their love with a gorgeous sunset engagement session at Deerfield Beach, Florida!
Originally introduced by family friends, the couple dated for a short time before life pulled them in different directions. A few years later, they fatefully bumped into each other at a museum while on field trips with their children.
More years passed, and after several “friend suggestions” from Facebook, Katurah friended Jeffrey in 2020. Jeffrey eventually took a chance and slid into her DMs. They chatted online and eventually started dating. Soon, they were inseparable. The rest is history!

The Proposal:
On 10-11-22, Jeffrey took my daughter, Kyrah, his son, Jeffrey, and me to dinner at Morton’s Steakhouse. Jeffrey blew my mind. He got down on one knee in the restaurant and told me he let me get away once before and he would never let that happen again and asked me to be his wife!! I said YES before I could even process everything he said.
To add to this beautiful dinner, shortly after the proposal the restaurant staff escorted us to a different seating area where our family and friends began to come in with flowers, cards, and balloons. Jeffrey had orchestrated a surprise engagement dinner to follow his proposal!
When did you know you found “the one”?
Katurah: I knew Jeffrey was meant to be my husband very early on during our second round of dating. It was so special how protective and dedicated we both are of our relationship. He was a changed man from whom I previously knew. I was in awe because I knew that GOD did that for us. He revealed himself to me with all the desires I had in a life partner and attributes that I needed that I had not realized until he showed me.
Jeffrey: I knew Katurah was the one shortly after we began to date.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Our engagement session was amazing! It was like something from a storybook. It took a lot of coordination. Thankfully we have an amazing wedding planner who guided us and did a lot of the coordinating on our behalf.
The site of the engagement session was on a serene and beautiful beach. The wind had its way with us and gave the photos a beautiful natural flow. We were blessed to have our barber and hairstylist travel from Detroit to Florida to service us on set.
We had to rent an RV for hair, makeup, and wardrobe changes (which made changing during the shoot smooth). We had two looks for our photo shoot. We decided to go with a very elegant formal look and then a nice calm casual look for our wardrobe themes.
What did you do on your first date?
We went to a Mexican restaurant in Southwest Detroit and watched the Lions football game together. GOOOOO LIONSSSSS!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Anything that involves being with each other is always enjoyable for both of us. However, our lazy days at home unwinding in our PJs laying in bed binge-watching a good series, or watching movies while cuddling is most special to us.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been really exciting! I honestly feel blessed that we have a wedding planner who is highly resourceful, a master executor, and the queen of follow-up. I think we probably would have eloped without her lol. We look forward to our planning meetings that bring us steps closer to having the wedding of our dreams.
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?
The part we are looking forward to most on our wedding day is when we officially become one before GOD, our family, and friends whilst on one of the most beautiful beaches on earth.
