How they met…
Andrew and Cintia’s love story began when they swiped right on a notorious dating app called Tinder. She initiated the conversation with “hey”, and he followed up with “has anyone ever told you that you look like Brandy?” – which was a shot in the dark because with that response it could have gone either way. Luckily it went just right!
The proposal…
Four days before Cintia’s birthday, Andrew took Cintia to Chambers Bay for an early birthday photo shoot on August 7, 2021. Andrew also brought Cintia’s sisters to take pictures of them around the area. Little did Cintia know, her sister’s knew about the proposal from Andrew filling them in on the plan.
After arriving at Chambers Bay and taking a few photos, Andrew told Cintia he left something in the car. He was actually going to another spot in Chambers Bay, where gold “MARRY ME” balloons were set up ahead of time. In the meantime, Cintia was still taking photos with her sisters.
When Andrew arrived at the proposal spot he texted one of the sisters to bring Cintia over to the proposal area. When Cintia saw Andrew and the balloons it didn’t register she was being proposed too until after Andrew started going down on his knee to pop the question.
After Andrew got down on his knee, a rush of joy and shock came to Cintia. Once Andrew asked the question, “Will you marry me?”, she happily and instantly said yes!

Wedding style, attire, & shopping experience…
Their wedding attire was elegant, formal and semi-formal.
Cintia always had an idea of what her dress would look like. It had to be mermaid style, fitting, and have an open back. After extensive online searching, she found Something Blue Boutique in Puyallup that had just the dress. The first appointment went great because that was when she said yes to the dress!
For Andrew, purchasing a wedding suit was a new experience. He had little to no knowledge about suits, however he know he wanted to look sharp, standout from his groomsmen, and be from a Black owned tailor. After doing research about suits, he discovered a Black Seattle tailor, called Tillman Style, to create a made to measure suit for the wedding. Tillman style exceeded expectations by creating a stunning blue suit for the wedding.

The sweet details…
Cultural elements…
In Cintia’s culture, it is customary for the guests to throw money at the bride and groom while on the dance floor. Spraying money symbolizes a showering of happiness, good fortune, and a display of the guest’s affection for the couple. They also jumped the broom during their ceremony.
Favorite wedding day memory…
One of the best memories that we’ll hold forever would be seeing everyone on the dance floor doing the wobble.
Wedding advice for other engaged couples…
It’s ok for things not to go according to plan because it never really does, something always goes wrong. The one important thing is to enjoy the day and just take it all in because later you’ll appreciate the mishaps and laugh about it.
