Emeka and Janet’s picture-perfect outdoor Nigerian wedding in Las Vegas had just the right touch of timeless yet modern luxe details.
With the wedding and reception set against the beautiful backdrop of Stallion Mountain the couple’s day also featured gorgeous floral arrangements by ACS Florals and Events.
Janet’s style for the day definitely gave us royal vibes with her bridal crown being the ultimate statement piece that complimented her pearl-encrusted custom convertible gown.

Quick Facts:
- Bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts: I gave my bridesmaids robes, wash bags, and skin care tools (face wash brush, spa headband) as gifts to thank them for their support and friendship. They loved their gifts and used them to pamper themselves before the wedding. Emeka gave his groomsmen personalized wallets and toiletry bags as gifts to show his appreciation and respect for them.
- Gifts for one another: Emeka gave me a blue pearl necklace as a gift for our wedding. He knew that I loved pearls. He also said that the necklace symbolized his love and devotion to me. His gift touched me and I wore it on our wedding day. I gave Emeka personalized accessories as a gift for our wedding. I gave him a cufflink and a tie clip. I wanted him to have something special and unique to wear on our wedding day.

Meeting the one…
We met in North Carolina during our Master’s program at North Carolina A&T State University. We met through mutual friends, became friends and study partners, and soon realized we had a lot in common.
Our proposal story…
On December 30th, 2021, we drove down to Los Angeles, California, for a short holiday to celebrate the end of the year. I had no idea that Emeka had already planned a surprise for me. On December 31st, 2021, he took me to Urban Light, a stunning installation of restored street lamps at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. As we walked among the glowing lights, he got down on one knee and popped the question. I was speechless and overjoyed. He had hired photographers to capture the moment and they came out of hiding to congratulate us.
Shopping for the big day…
The wedding shopping experience was fun and exciting for us. We enjoyed browsing different options online and in person, and we were lucky to find talented designers who could create our perfect outfits.
Finding my dream dress…
My wedding dress was a dream come true. It was adorned with delicate beads and pearls, creating a beautiful shimmering effect. It was a two-piece convertible dress with a detachable train that I could remove for the reception. The dress was ordered from Oprah Johnson on Instagram, who was amazing to work with. She understood my vision and made it a reality.
Perfectly suited…
Emeka’s suit was a three-piece suit and a white jacket custom-made by Peter Cassara, a custom Italian designer in Sunnyvale, California. He looked handsome and elegant in his outfit, which reflected his Nigerian heritage and style.
We see you…
Our first look…
Our culture…our way…
We are both from Nigeria and wanted to celebrate our culture and traditions with our guests. We had a Nigerian pre-wedding dinner a day before the wedding, where we wore colorful native attires and enjoyed Nigerian delicacies, and we also danced to Nigerian music and performed some rituals to bless our union.
Here comes the bride…
For the wedding, we gave our guests the option to wear either traditional or Western outfits. We were happy to see many of them embrace our culture and wear beautiful native clothes. We also incorporated some Nigerian elements into our ceremony and reception, such as playing Nigerian songs, serving Nigerian food and drinks, and giving out Nigerian souvenirs.
The best part of our day…
Our best memory from our wedding is our first dance as husband and wife. We chose “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez as our song because it expressed how we felt about each other. We had a little practice beforehand and we were nervous but excited to perform them in front of everyone. As we danced, we felt like we were in our own world, surrounded by love and happiness. We looked into each other’s eyes and smiled, knowing that we had found our soulmates.
The best advice we’ll give you is…
Enjoy every moment of your wedding journey. Don’t stress too much about the details or the expectations of others. Focus on what matters most to you and your partner, and what makes you happy. Remember that your wedding is a celebration of your love story, not a competition or a show. Be yourself and have fun with your partner, your family, and your friends.
