Jessica and Brenian’s enchanting garden engagement session at The Society of the Four Arts is featured in issue 32!
Jessica and Brenian first spoke during the pandemic when many people were giving online dating a chance. Before lockdown, Brenian made the first move through Instagram; responding to Jessica’s stories and sending her messages.
At the time, Jessica wasn’t interested in meeting someone online and she never responded. During the pandemic, Jessica gave dating apps a chance and as fate would have it, she matched with Brenian.
Coincidence? I think more, orchestrated by God because what are the chances?! It dawned on me that, my fiancé had been trying to get my attention for a while… but I never bothered. Meeting someone through the internet was scary to me… We hit it off and here we are now, on the road to forever.

Brenian orchestrated a surprise proposal that took Jessica’s breath away. Together, with Jessica’s makeup artist and a photographer, Brenian executed the perfect surprise photoshoot proposal. Jessica was under the impression that she was modeling for a promotional photoshoot for her makeup artist’s upcoming bridal class.
While taking photos, their favorite song began playing and Jessica immediately thought of Brenian. The photographer directed her to turn in the opposite direction and there she found Brenian on one knee, waiting for her to say “Yes!”.
Jessica and Brenian’s enchanting garden engagement session at The Society of the Four Arts beautifully captured the essence of their relationship and the love they share.
We didn’t have a specific theme for our engagement session… We wanted photos that felt natural and authentic, a reflection of our everyday connection.
– Jessica
The Society of the Four Arts gave their engagement session a romantic and whimsical atmosphere, tying in their fairytale wedding theme. Jessica wore two stunning dresses from Voila Haute Couture, which pared perfectly with Brenian’s two suits, both in eye-catching pastel hues that complimented their wedding color palette.

How did you meet?
We met during COVID-19, a time when everyone was giving love a chance. It really went down in the DMs lol, however, there’s a back story on how I finally responded. During lockdown, I decided to give the dating apps a chance, and I so happened to come across his dating profile while swiping. Coincidence? I think more, orchestrated by God because what are the chances?!
It dawned on me that, my fiancé had been trying to get my attention for a while by sending me messages and responding to my IG stories, but I never bothered. Meeting someone through the internet was scary to me lol. Anyway, my friend convinced me to respond to his DM. We hit it off and here we are now, on the road to forever.
What did you do on your first date?
Our first date was epic! We tackled an escape room together (survived, of course!), then grabbed some delicious food. The conversation flowed so naturally, so we hit the strip for a walk. It was the perfect way to get to know each other and the most unforgettable first date ever!
Tell us about the proposal.
Brenian planned a proposal that still takes my breath away to this day. He planned it all out with my makeup artist. I was under the impression that I was preparing to be a model for a promo photoshoot that my makeup artist was going to use for her upcoming bridal class. Everyone that day knew what was going on besides myself.
While I was in the middle of taking photos after my second outfit change, they played our favorite song and I immediately thought of him not knowing this was all a surprise photoshoot proposal. The moment the photographer told me to look in his direction while directing me, to my surprise, my fiancé was awaiting my yes as he was on one knee behind me. We ultimately shared our proposal video on the internet and it went viral on YouTube and other social platforms.
Describe your enchanting engagement session.
We didn’t have a specific theme for our engagement session, but it was all about capturing the essence of who we are and the love we share. We wanted photos that felt natural and authentic, a reflection of our everyday connection. Also, we made an outfit choice that complimented our wedding colors. Thinking about it, maybe “us” is the theme!
We chose The Society of the Four Arts for our venue because it wasn’t the typical location and we wanted to stand out. It gave a whimsical atmosphere that ties well with our fairytale wedding. The photographer focused on capturing candid moments of us – laughing, talking, and holding hands.
There was a moment I’ll never forget during our session that the photographer captured so beautifully. It was the moment my fiance was kissing my hand and I became emotional. I was reminded how God has been so faithful in pairing me with someone whose love has always felt so safe.
Our session was all about celebrating our love for each other in a way that felt genuine and true to us.

We love exploring new places to eat and our new thing currently has been finding movies and shows to stream.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Truthfully, wedding planning hasn’t been too hectic. We’ve definitely had our share of moments but overall it’s been a great experience thus far. We’ve been planning together and he’s already in the wedding industry, so we have a cheat code for making the process a little more seamless.
What are you looking forward to on your wedding day?
Honestly, there’s so much to look forward to! But if we had to pick one thing, it would be seeing the joy on the faces of our families. Our wedding day is a celebration of our love, but it’s also about bringing our friends and families together. Seeing them there, sharing this special day with us fills our hearts with so much joy. We can’t wait to feel that sense of love and community, knowing we’re surrounded by God’s grace and blessings.
