Fate brought Kimberly and David together one evening when their friends invited them out to the same restaurant for dinner.
Both were apprehensive about going out that evening at all but ultimately decided to go, changing both of their lives forever. As Kimberly and her friend were leaving the restaurant, David and his friend Don were entering. Both being an acquaintance of David’s friend Don, he asked if the two would come back in to join them for a drink where Kimberly and David were first introduced. “Once we got to know each other we found that we knew so many people in common it was insane we’d never crossed paths before,” Kimberly fondly recalls. They soon became inseparable and haven’t looked back since. David and Kimberly were pronounced husband and wife during an endearing destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. How did you meet? We have determined that we met when the time was right by God’s design. We both are Nashville natives which are rare in Nashville these days with all the growth we’ve had. It’s a common thing in Nashville when you meet someone who is born and raised in Nashville we call them a unicorn. The date was November 1, 2012. I was a campaign manager for a State Senate race at the time. My bestie/matron of honor Heather invited me to check out this new restaurant. I declined because I had a campaign event. I ended up changing my mind after a couple of hours and decided to meet Heather. David was in the executive Leadership program called Leadership. David’s friend Don, during a Leadership Nashville meeting, invited him to the same restaurant. David also declined at first and later changed his mind. Heather and I dined at the restaurant Aura. Heather and I were walking out when in walks Don and a guy I’ve never met. Heather and I did know Don and Don asked for us to stay and have a drink which we did. David and I were chatting and as David was telling me about himself I yelled out how I’ve been looking for him. Turns out that my candidate had called David to get his support for the campaign. Well, David asked me to have coffee once the election was over and we did. Once we got to know each other we found that we knew so many people in common it was insane we’d never crossed paths before. I had even been to his restaurant a few times and we never met. We ended up being inseparable since we connected after the campaign. I never had to look for David again.
Tell us about the proposal. We had been saving and talking about getting married so I had an idea a proposal was going to happen at some point in 2018 especially with us talking about a 2019 wedding date. Well, my birthday passed which is in November and we were coming up in the last month of the year. We had a week-long vacation planned with his family in Cabo for Christmas and New Years so in my mind, I assumed that’s when it would happen. December 22nd was a Saturday and the day before we were going to leave for Cabo. We planned to go to church then a friend’s Christmas party. Right before we walked out the door of our apartment David tells me to stand by the door as he wanted to test out the camera tripod we got for the trip. I stood by the door and he set the camera up. David stood next to me and grabbed my hand, telling me he doesn’t want to go on another family trip without me being his wife. David got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said of course! I was so surprised. I called my parents to tell them the news and he had already met with them to show them my ring and ask for my hand in marriage.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you? I had a good shopping experience I went to four salons in two days. I choose a dress I saw online and found a retailer in Nashville that carried the designer. I wanted a dress to showcase my figure and have some sparkle to catch the sunlight. David wanted a classic fitted tux and he also did a jacket change for the reception.

What is your best memory from your wedding? I loved spending time with our loved ones and seeing our two families blending so well together.
What is the best wedding advice you can give to engaged couples? I would say do everything your way and do not worry about tradition. Additionally, I would say negotiate the price on EVERYTHING.
