Endearing Garden Engagement Session in Washington, DC

Love inspires love, so having been formally introduced at the wedding of a mutual acquaintance it’s only fitting that Nadia and Mirza would eventually find themselves walking the same path.

Reaching out to Nadia following that wedding, Mirza soon asked her out for a classic first date at the movies. The introductory jitters began to subside as one date led to another, revealing their numerous commonalities and continuing to grow closer over time. It wasn’t long before Mirza began thinking about the possibility of spending the rest of their lives together and on a trip to Montreal, the perfect proposal opportunity presented itself…

How did you meet? We met at the wedding of a friend! We had known each other for quite a few years, but after that wedding, Mirza decided to reach out to me. Eight years later we decided to get married.

Tell us your proposal story. I was on a girls’ trip to Montreal with four of my good friends. It was a very normal morning, my friends seemed normal, we had breakfast in Vermont and made our way up to Montreal that afternoon. Once we arrived in Montreal, my best friend suggested we visit La Fontaine Park. As we walked to the park, I began to suggest places to stop, but my friends were on a mission to get us to this park. As we reached the park, I wondered what was so special about this place, but as I kept walking I saw Mirza standing under an umbrella waiting to propose to me! Turns out Mirza flew to Montreal for four hours, JUST to propose to me!

Describe your engagement session. We decided to go to the National Arboretum. Mirza and I were nervous since we are relatively shy people, but Leah made us comfortable. We wanted lots of candids together as well as some great scenic shots.

What did you do on your first date? We went to a movie! Terrible idea because how are you really suppose to get to know someone that way. We were both so nervous and we can easily say we don’t remember anything about that movie.

What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple? We are foodies and we love to cook together but also love exploring interesting restaurants.
