Bride & Groom: Erin & Aman
Location of Wedding: Riviera Maya, Mexico
Wedding Date: September 14, 2017
Erin and Aman’s first encounter was so perfectly coincidental it must’ve been written by fate. Erin with her sister, on their way to a restaurant in Brooklyn to meet their mother, were just stepping off the train from Manhattan when they heard someone ask, “have you been shopping in the city?” Erin turned around and there was Aman smiling at her. They began small-talk before he told her about himself, how he was just coming back from a fashion show in Manhattan – which immediately peaked her interest as she herself is a fashion designer. Their connection was immediate and she noticed how easy it was to speak with him and how well they got along. It was her sister that encouraged her to exchange numbers with him, stating that she had, “a good feeling about this guy!” They went on their first date that following weekend and have been inseparable ever since.
Erin had a feeling right away that Aman was “the one.” He effortlessly harmonized with her family, who are very important to Erin, and have very high standards – altogether a very good sign. But she believes what really “sealed the deal” was when his car broke down and he came to live at her place for a month to be closer to work. It was still early in their relationship so Erin wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but instead of being at all awkward they found themselves naturally comfortable with each other and the situation. In Erin’s words, “having someone you can be yourself with is priceless and at that moment I knew everything would be fine.” Aman selected a beautiful tea room in London, England for the proposal location – and the decor matched the ring perfectly.
The theme of their wedding was inspired by Erin’s engagement ring – rose-gold and blush. Every detail incorporated the blush color palette, down to the wedding gown. Hues of peach, coral and palm-leave-green were added to the mix to brighten and accent.
For her dress, Erin knew she wanted something non-traditional. After searching high and low she found a store that carried exactly the designer she was looking for, and after trying on three Pallas Couture Paget dresses she fell in love with a blush and ivory tulle train, nude underlay, and mate applique embellishments and arm bands. Completed with a Maria Elena crown in Swarovski crystals and semi-precious pearls. Erin and Aman’s Riviera Maya, Mexico destination wedding incorporated their African-American and Caribbean cultures throughout the wedding, including the music and especially the delicious food.

Advice for engaged couples: The best wedding advice I could give is remember that this is your special day and try not to let anyone or anything spoil your day! Another recommendation would be to pick your top three important details about the day that you will budget more money for and stick to it! For us, we picked photography, food and venue.
