A talented team of vendors transformed a newly rehabbed house in New Orleans into the most dreamy intimate wedding venue for an ethereal garden elopement shoot!
Our ethereal garden elopement shoot in an old New Orleans house showcases the beauty of blending nature with nostalgia, creating a romantic and enchanting setting for a wedding.
– Michelle Norwoord (Michelle Norwood Events)
The refurbished house, with old-world details, was adorned with the lushest, overgrown blooms and vintage decor; the perfect pairing for a whimsical style elopement with timeless charm.
We embraced the natural overgrowth, allowing ivy and similar plants to crawl up the walls and wildflowers to bloom freely inside the property.

For the elopement shoot, the creative team envisioned a couple stumbling upon an overgrown garden and deciding to elope amongst its fairytale-like beauty. Photographer Khrystina Steib beautifully captured the couple’s journey from getting ready together to their “dinner for two” reception.
The light pastels and deep greens paired with the gold vintage accents and weathered walls created a whimsical, otherworldly setting. The vintage hardwood tableware, delicate glassware, and other ornate elements made the space even more impressive, adding a sense of luxury and warmth.
If you’re dreaming of an elopement that feels both magical and timeless, consider embracing the charm of an overgrown garden and the elegance of vintage décor. This unique combination will make your special day truly unforgettable.

- Location: Derebes Mansion in New Orleans
The Concept: An Overgrown Garden
Imagine stumbling upon an old house in the heart of New Orleans. Its garden is overgrown with lush greenery and delicate flowers take over the space, creating an ethereal atmosphere. This enchanting vision inspired our latest styled shoot, where we transformed an abandoned or newly rehabbed house into a dreamy elopement venue that feels both magical and timeless.
The essence of our shoot was to capture the beauty of nature reclaiming an old structure, creating a romantic setting that feels almost otherworldly. We envisioned a couple discovering this hidden gem and deciding to elope amidst the natural beauty of the overgrown garden. The juxtaposition of the decaying house and the vibrant greenery added depth and character to the scene, making it perfect for an intimate and unique elopement.
Venue: Setting the Scene
With its weathered walls and vintage charm, the house provided the perfect backdrop for our ethereal garden. We embraced the natural overgrowth, allowing ivy and plants to crawl up the walls and wildflowers to bloom freely. The garden seemed to come alive with a mix of soft pastels and rich greens, creating a whimsical and enchanting atmosphere.
Decor: Blending Nature with Nostalgia
To complement the overgrown garden, we chose décor that blended seamlessly with the surroundings. Antique furniture, vintage lace tablecloths, and heirloom china added a touch of nostalgia and elegance to the setting. Ornate details, like vintage real wood tables and delicate glassware, brought a sense of refined beauty, making the space feel luxurious and welcoming.
Floral Arrangements: Lush and Organic
The floral arrangements were designed to enhance the natural beauty of the garden. We opted for a mix of lush florals and greenery, creating bouquets and accents that looked like they had been picked straight from the garden. Peonies, roses, and ranunculus in varying shades of pink, peach, and cream added a soft and romantic touch. The eucalyptus and ferns provided texture and depth.
The Couple: Effortlessly Elegant
Our couple embodied effortless elegance, dressed in attire that was both timeless and modern. The bride wore a flowing, ethereal gown with delicate details, perfectly complementing the garden setting. Her loose, wavy, natural hair and natural makeup added to the overall sense of romance and simplicity. The groom, in a classic suit with a touch of vintage flair, completed the picture of a couple deeply in love and ready to embark on their journey together.
Photography: Capturing the Magic
The photos by Khrystina Steib truly capture the magic of our ethereal garden elopement. Each image tells a story of love and beauty, set against an overgrown garden and a charming old house. The soft lighting, combined with the natural elements, created a dreamy and timeless feel that will inspire couples looking for a unique and intimate elopement experience.
The Cake: Sweet Details
Just for two, the cake was an embossed, floral-detailed, two-tiered white cake that was simple yet stunning.
