A seriously hot couple and an ultra chic loft venue makes today’s wedding a perfect fit for Fashion Friday. Giselle and Todd’s Atlanta wedding was certainly fashion forward – she had a custom runway built for her grand entrance, two designer dresses from Bravo TV star Reco Chapple ( @RecoChapple ), and custom bridesmaids dressed which she designed herself! Enjoy these images captured by Janet Howard Studio and check out more from this wedding with our partners over at Ebony.com.
Bride: Giselle Hayling
Groom: Todd Windham
Wedding date: March 25, 2012
Location: The Foundry at Puritan Mill – Atlanta, GA
From the bride… “Todd and I contracted with 5star Events Natalie Delemar and Provi Rumpful to help us plan our day. As a bride, I wanted my wedding to be unique. I love fashion and Todd loves music. With this in mind we thought that having a runway at our reception would be an ideal way to fuse the performances of the band and a runway show together. The location that we chose to have our reception was a blank slate. Therefore we had to bring everything in. We had our runway specially built by Event Scapes. Event scapes brought our vision to life!
I wanted to have brooch bouquets so I had to buy lots of brooches. I went to a number of thrift shops to see if I could find the brooches at an affordable cost. I ended up having to buy them online at fabulousbrooch.com. When I took the brooches to Event Scapes and met with the florist, I was told that I may not be able to use all of them. I thought I was going to die as I sat in their office with boxes of brooches. I had to suck it up and hope for the best. Well it was the best! Janice and all the people at Events Scapes did a great job with our decor! It was a dream!!
Because of my love for fashion we incorporated the names of different designers as our table names. My gown was made by Reco Chapple. Reco was a designer on the Bravo t.v show “The Fashion Show.” My bridesmaids dresses were designed by myself (Ixora Inc.) and made by the seamstress Kahroline. I also love jewel tones so I used a hint of peacock. My wedding planners were the best! They were very diligent in making sure that all our needs were met. From going over every contract to being a listening ear when I needed to vent. They kept me from turning into a bridezilla. My day was perfect!! Better than I could have ever dreamed of.”
Cultural Ties… “I was born on the Island of Tobago. Flavorful food is very important to myself and my family. I believe that food is a way to bring people together, therefore, I selected foods that I felt captured the true essence of West Indian cuisine. I had to have rice and peas, cabbage, plantain, ,jerk chicken, and salmon which brought culture and tradition to our wedding. ”
Memories… “The most memorable part of our wedding day had to be when we sang to each other during our ceremony. We sang Bebe and Cece Winans’ “Close to you.” It was something I had always dreamed about doing since I was a little girl. The feeling was indescribable, the connection that my husband and I felt during each verse was like the song was written for us.”
{Love Birds}
He loves… “He loves my ambitious spirit. He loves my sense of style. He loves the way I take care of him. “
She loves… “This is a really hard question. I love so many things about him. I love that he is so talented! He plays the drums and sings. I also love the way he complements me daily. He makes me feel like a million bucks !!”
