Fall vineyard wedding in Virginia celebrates the long-awaited “I-do’s” of a couple’s postponed wedding; followed by romantic portraits one year later!
After postponing their original Spring 2020 Wedding to Fall due to COVID restrictions, Brigitte & Scotty couldn’t wait to finally tie-the-knot! However, like many couples, they had quite a trying year. Brigitte mourned the loss of her father the month of their original wedding date and the stress of planning a wedding during a pandemic weighed on them. Nevertheless, through all of life’s trials and tribulations, their love for one another has only grown.
When their wedding day finally arrived, they were overjoyed but also bummed by a streak of rainy weather. So, they planned a two-part wedding day. Their “Big Day” in 2020 and then romantic couples’ portraits one year later in 2021.
Their “Big Day” in 2020 was classy and elegant with a classic black and white color story accented with pinks, blushes, and gold floral details. To honor her father, Brigitte carried a locket around her bouquet with a photo of him inside. The couple also shared an intimate first look in the vineyards chapel.

How they met…
Brigitte and Scotty first crossed paths when Scotty first moved to Washington DC and was living the life of a single father.
Brigitte recalls, “He had just returned home from his 1.5-hour commute from DC to Northern VA, when an old military buddy called and asked him to come back to the city to hang out. With his son Jalen co-signing that he should go, he reluctantly said ok.”
Who knew Scotty’s son would have such an impact on the two connecting!
Meanwhile, Brigitte’s neighbor had been asking her to attend a Friday evening happy hour for weeks. But with Brigitte’s busy work schedule and frequent traveling, she always declined. However, this particlar Friday, she happened to be available. So, she and her neighbor and another close girlfriend headed out for a night on the town!
Early on, Brigitte and the girls were were sitting at a table near the dance floor when Scotty walked past. The girls challenged Brigitte to get his attention and with a little coercion, she went for it. Scotty smiled and glided to the table, introduced himself, and asked Brigitte to dance – she said yes!
After floating around the dance floor for two songs, the pair headed to the lounge area to chat. They spent the next 2.5 hours talking, laughing, sharing stories and complimenting each other on their “Colgate smiles.” Looking back, they essentially “interviewed each other for compatibility.” That night, Scotty called Brigitte to make sure she made it home safely (and also to ask her out for a date the next day). Again, she said yes! And it was the beginning of a lifelong romance!

Brigitte enjoyed preparing for the day with her beautiful, attentive and supportive ladies by her side. The otherwise rainy day was brightened by Brigitte’s light and lovely floral choices. Her bridesmaid’s blush dresses also added the perfect touch of color! These women were gorgeous and clearly amazing friends. Shalonda (maid of honor) not only gave the brightest smile, but the sweetest toast at the reception as well!
Brigitte also opened a beautiful diamond bracelet from Scotty and paused for a few special photographs with her mother.

Meanwhile, Scotty was preparing for the day with his groomsmen. Some warm embraces and assistance with ties and cuff links were shared with his best men, including his two sons. He also opened a gift from Brigitte as well as a few present from some of his best men!
Their first look…
Brigitte and Scotty chose to have their first look inside the chapel at Morais Vineyard due to the weather. It was a sweet and cozy place to see each other for the first time that day. And wow! Was Scotty overwhelmed at the sight of his beautiful bride!

The ceremony…
After more portraits with their family and bridal party, it was time for the ceremony. The two shared their own vows and listened to an encouraging message from their pastor. After they shared communion and a unity tradition, they sealed their union with a kiss!

After taking extra portraits in the wine cellar, the reception hall was prepared for their entrance and for the evening’s events to begin. The evening was filled with fun and dancing, toasts, and the infamous “shoe game” where everyone had the chance to learn a little more about Brigitte and Scotty.
Returning to the vineyard…
One year later, the couple returned to the vineyard to continue their celebration, catching the last gorgeous leaves of Fall at the glass atrium, the front portico, and around the property. And Brigitte finally got her backlit portrait at the glass atrium!
