Moving on from a long term relationship can be difficult. So when Shella saw Jamil walk into a lounge 8 years ago, she hesitated. She knew he was cute, but she wasn’t ready to date. However, Jamil had spotted Shella too, and in an attempt to spark a conversation with her, he stated that he liked her red pants. They ended up dancing to a couple of reggae songs and that was the beginning of their beautiful relationship.
Although they had a great time together, Shella was sure their relationship would end when she revealed she was leaving to live in Rome, Italy before heading to law school. Jamil had other plans. He asked her to call him as soon as she arrived in Rome. Shella obliged, and the two kept in contact on a weekly basis. When Shella returned home from Rome, their love was even stronger. After eight years together, Jamil proposed to Shella in St. Lucia during a romantic private dinner on the beach.
The classic book The Great Gatsby, served as an inspiration for their wedding. A chic black and gold color scheme reminiscent of the flashy and chic 1920s was incorporated into the couple’s décor. Amber uplighting, shimmering gold overlays, elegant black and gold chargers and a glistening gold five tier wedding cake all helped to evoke the glamour of the Roaring 20s. The couple’s couture attire was just as show stopping as their décor. Shella wore a Pnina Tornai ball gown, which included a custom bodysuit adorned with Swarovski crystals. She completed her dress with suede and crystal Alexander McQueen shoes. Jamil wore a bespoke Giorgio Armani midnight blue tuxedo. Shella also designed the bridesmaid’s black and gold gowns that were styled with black mesh veils!
At the end of the night, guests were treated with surprise fireworks! It was the perfect end to an elegant celebration.
