I hear it time and time again, bride after bride, “I want to look natural, like myself, but GLAM!” But what exactly is natural glam? Depending on who you ask that question, you may get a different answer whether you ask the bride, her mom, maid of honor or the makeup artist. I shared a few tips on how to choose your bridal makeup artist before but one of the most important things brides-to-be must do is to make sure you have a very clear conversation on what natural means to you and what that means to your makeup artist! Most artists aim for natural looking makeup in flash photography, some brides just want to look natural in person (there is a difference) and other brides still think that Kim Kardashian’s signature look is natural and “a little” makeup.
The best way to describe Kim Kardashian’s signature go-to look, which I do confess is a good example for the perfect bridal glam, is actually “clean, soft glam”. Brides who want to appear “natural” but still done up should ask for a clean and glamorous makeup look.
What does “clean” mean in the makeup world? Most artists will think neutral tones based on the clients skin complexion like minimal or no blush, nude flesh tone lip shades and neutral eyeshadow. The “soft glam” can be brought to life with a sheer lip gloss, highlighted cheekbones to lift the face, as well as false eyelashes and eyeliner that define and open the eye depending on the eye shape.
Perfect example of clean glam, nude lip with a sultry eye for the brown skin bride with small set eyes that still make a statement.
Clean, luminous skin and nude lip for the bride with almond shaped eyes and a deep crease.
Yes, brown skin brides can wear color on their lips that are bold and still kissable for her groom!
Dramatic eyes and clean skin with a nude lip! You can still have drama with heavy top and bottom eyeliner and have soft skin that draws attention to the eye for someone with little to no eye crease (slightly hooded eyes). This is not a smokey eye, it’s just thick eyeliner on the top lid but because her eyes are not deep set with a crease, it gives the appearance for black eyeshadow all over the eye lid.
She pretty much always nails the clean and glamorous look! Laura has amazing features and this is the perfect bridal look for the fair skinned bride who wants something clean, nude lip with full false lashes, and shimmery neutral metallic tones on the eyelid and on the tear duct to brighten the eyes.
And there you have it, red carpet bridal inspiration for every shade!
