Happy Sunday! Today we’re sharing a gorgeous destination wedding with you. Sasha and Sammy reside in the North East but opted for a domestic destination wedding in Delray Beach, Florida. The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens made for a picturesque backdrop for their Asian-themed wedding. And John Arcara Photography did an awesome job on these photos! Enjoy.
Bride: Sasha-Marie Wittne Groom: Samuel David Baez Occupations: Pediatric Nurse/Senior Financial Advisor Wedding date: November 10, 2011 Location: Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray, FL “Sammy and I met in the fall of 2005 at Penn State University. It was our freshman year of college, Sammy and I would always cross each other’s paths at his fraternity events and my sorority events. We were friends for a while before we stated dating and then we both realized that we wanted more than friendship. After 3 and a half years of dating Sammy took me to dinner on new years day and asked me to be his wife at the Water’s Edge restaurant in Long Island City NY. I remember it like it was yesterday, January 1st 2010 was a cold friday. It snowed a couple days before, and all I wanted to do was stay cuddled up on the sofa. Sammy insisted that we go out to dinner that Friday night, and so we did. It was one of the best night’s of my life. We sat and talked about our goals and plans for our future over dinner and then he got down on both knee’s and asked me I f I would spend the new year as his future wife. I was so shocked! My response was are you serious? And then off course I said yes…several times.”
Wedding theme…
“I began planning a fall wedding in winter of 2010. I always knew I wanted a destination wedding and I decided on Delray Beach FL because Sammy has many family members in Orlando and Tampa Florida. A Florida wedding made the destination accessable to all our family and friends. Although I am afro-caribbean, being born in Trinidad and Tobago and Sammy coming from a Dominican background we both have a love and deep respect for Asian culture. So we decided to get married at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray beach FL and have an Asian themed wedding. We wanted an outdoor wedding surrounded by fifty of our closest family and friends in an intimate setting.”
On Incorporating Culture…
“Sammy and I did incorporate culture but not much of our own culture. We planned an asian themed wedding which included chinese lanterns, japanese plum wine wedding favor bottles,sushi and sashimi. We included asian wedding colors lots of reds, pinks, and off white.”
For the second half of the wedding, Sasha changed into a pretty stunning blush Vera Wang gown. We love how her shoes complimented the ruffled skirt.
{LOVE BIRDS}
He loves…”I love her naturally nurturing personality, it’s what makes her such a great nurse, her passion for the work she does and the people she cares about.”
She loves…”I love how supportive and driven he is, he is a man with strong faith and great family values. I am truly blessed to call him my husband, and lets not forget his infectious smile which is something I look forward to seeing for the rest of our lives.”
