It only took four months to plan the absolutely stunning Tiffany and Co. inspired summer wedding of Tezina, an Advertising Executive and Michael Forbes, a Banker. The two had an intimate destination wedding in the beautiful Bahamas on July 18, 2015 and were overjoyed to become one happy family with Tezina’s adorable son, Zion.
Tell us about how you met and all about the proposal!
In 2011, I was invited by my friend, Kristen to attend her church at the time and it was there that I first saw Michael. We only gave a casual hello. When I changed churches and Michael visited in July 2013, it was then that I reintroduced myself and told him it was good to see him, and we became friends. Our friendship grew quickly, and a year later, he made his intentions known and asked my sister for my hand in marriage.
I remember when Michael saw me for the first time. It was the look in his eyes, the tears that followed, and the smile on his face – I would do it all over again just to share that moment a little while longer. I also cannot forget my son’s confidence as he squeezed my hand walking me up the aisle and reminding me that “everything will be okay mommy” because he thought I was nervous. Zion is such a little man and we’re both equally proud of him.
My sister’s toast to our parents made us all cry. She honestly didn’t mean to but…yeah – she did. Last but by no means least, I remember being so overjoyed about the venue and the décor and what a transformation my sister and her team did to the venue. From the huge photos of our engagement session lining the walls, to the lounge area and the ceremony décor….. I didn’t know what she was planning and it was all in one word – perfect.
Think about what’s important to you as a couple for your big day, start from there, and work your way up. Don’t allow people to control your day, this is about you and your husband. Choose sentimental things and not the most expensive. Include people in your big day that will be there for you in the hard times, not just the wedding day…
Most importantly, don’t do this alone. Hire my sister the best wedding planner ever. Honestly, I’m not being biased. Tennille is so passionate about what she does, that I believe that she always gives her brides the best and then some. There were things I didn’t think of that she had handled and as bride you want to enjoy the experience and not deal with the forgotten items. It’s beneficial too because you don’t have too many people telling you what you should do… you have a professional who knows what works.
