An evening on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on May 7th, 2021, sparked the beginning of Dabney and Myles’s love story.
Myles, originally from New Orleans, was walking down Bourbon Street with a friend. Dabney was visiting The Big Easy on a birthday trip and leaving the strip with her MBA friends when she saw a handsome gentleman walking on the other side.
Watching the mystery man from a distance, Dabney recalls, “…with confidence, I blurted out ‘Wow, he is SO cute!'” She continued walking towards the exit until her friend yelled, “Dabney, the guy is coming for you!”
“I turn around and there is Myles, with a smile on his face as he extends his hand to introduce himself to me,” she recalls, smiling. “I told him I lived in Chicago and was only in New Orleans for two more days.”
They exchanged contact information and Myles promised he would see her again the next day. “He certainly fulfilled that promise,” Dabney shares, “and since then we’ve been inseparable!”
Who knew a night out on Bourbon Street would lead to a lifelong romance? Keep reading below for more details on Dabney and Myles’s love story. From their romantic proposal in Paris and their future wedding plans, they can’t wait to say “I do!” next year.

What did you do on your first date?
On our first date, Myles picked me up from my hotel on my last day in New Orleans to grab food and tour the city. He showed me the Superdome and also where he grew up. We then had a fun brunch at The Cheesecake Factory where we promised that we’d see each other again. After brunch, Myles dropped me off at the airport where we finally shared our first kiss.
When did you know you found “the one”?
The day after we first met, I told Myles that me and my friends were going to be in Frenchman Street for the evening and we could meet there, to which he agreed.
While I was riding in an Uber to meet him, I was incredibly nervous and my stomach would not stop knotting up! I texted him when the Uber dropped me off and he told me he was walking up and my nerves got worse… I was so nervous.
But then he started walking toward me and as I looked at him draw nearer to me, instantly all my nerves were gone and the first word I uttered was, “Oh!” – I was so surprised at how suddenly I became so comfortable and my nerves just disappeared. It was almost as if my soul knew that after all this searching, it finally found “the one”.
Tell us your proposal story:
We became engaged on August 23, 2023, in Paris, on a family trip, with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. That morning, Myles made plans for us to go shopping in Champs Elysee and get new outfits to take professional photos in front of the Eiffel Tower that evening. Shopping and Paris was a no-brainer so I thought absolutely nothing of it!
During the evening, we headed down to the Eiffel Tower for pictures, but not before we “locked” our love at the famous Love Lock Bridge. Once we finally found our photographer, Myles told me he just needed to “come back” really quickly and he ran toward my dad across from us. Again, thinking nothing of it, I started doing solo shots for the pictures.
While I am posing, Myles swoops to the side of me and immediately goes down on one knee holding the ring. I stood in shock for about 10 seconds. He sweetly and gently asked me to marry him in front of my family and bravely in front of the surrounding public as they clapped to which I gave an undeniable YES. A dream.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Our engagement session was so fun! I’ve done photo shoots before but this was Myles’s first one! Taylor, our photographer, captured our love so well and made it such a fun experience! It was also great to see how Myles became comfortable with the camera and really showed his true self in the photos. For our session, we wanted to go with a clean aesthetic so that we would be the main focus in all the pictures. I loved how the photos came out!
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We love to explore new restaurants and cuisines in whatever city/country we are in! I am more of an avid food lover and I’d love to say I brought Myles into the fun as well.
How has wedding planning been so far?
It actually isn’t so bad….yet? We have a longer engagement (+1.5 years) to help us fully plan and budget for the wedding we want so this has really helped with taking our time to truly pick out the best vendors for us. I also have an amazing maid of honor who has really been super supportive and helpful in the whole process. Your team is everything for the big day!
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
I am absolutely looking forward to the moment when I can just say, “I DO”. I am so excited to become my best friend’s wife!
