“Our initial meeting was pretty casual. Met at a friend’s party, talked to each other once in a while” shares Ashley. And of course, after a few months Ashley and Julius’ short chats became more frequent and much longer. Next, as love always has it, something started to develop between the two causing it to seem like they were more than just friends.
Breezing through a few years of dating, the pair packed their bags and headed to the pristine beaches of the Dominican Republic for their first vacation. But little did Ashley know, somewhere hidden in Julius’ carry-on, laid a little black velvet box. “We had arrived at our hotel in the Dominican Republic. I was getting unpacked and getting changed to go out for dinner and Julius gives me a poem and it led to him asking me to marry him.” says Ashley. And what was her initial reaction? “Are you serious!” “His heart was beating so hard during this time, I thought something was wrong but, I was wrong. He just nervous and wanted to marry me. I of course said yes” says Ashley.
To display their love of art, this charming couple held their engagement session in Atlanta outside of the city’s celebrated High Museum of Art. The two were charmingly captured by coterie member, LaJoy Hunter of L. Hunter Photography. Check out more of their sweet photos and love story below.

Wedding date: 6/12/2016
Wedding location: Summerour Studio in Atlanta, GA
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
The engagement session was staged outside of the High Museum. The High was chosen because we both worked there, as well as, we both love art and the art world. No theme, but we hoped to highlight the beautiful spring day and the beautiful architecture of the building.
What did you do on your first date?
We went to Dave and Busters and he taught me how to play pool.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
We’re big movie fans – so movie dates are pretty common.
How has wedding planning been so far?
Wedding planning has been intense and stressful. I had no idea what to expect or where to start. Finding vendors with our vision and within our budget took a lot of time and patience. Then having to organize and schedule meetings and interviews around our work and school schedules. Google calendar and The Knot became my best friend.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Ashley: Walking down the aisle toward my groom and then partying it up at the reception!
Julius: Passing out when it’s over.
