Caroline and Francis celebrated their love with family and friends at their old Hollywood glam themed wedding in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania!
The couple met each other when they were least expecting it. One day, Caroline’s phone suddenly stopped working out of nowhere and she found herself at T-Mobile being assisted by her future husband, Francis.
I ended up getting an upgrade for my phone that day and an upgrade in my dating life too!
Caroline
Francis staged a romantic and heartwarming proposal in front of the Italian Fountain at Longwood Gardens. As they stopped in front of the fountain, Caroline saw her close friends and family approaching and she immediately knew what was happening. When she turned back to Francis, he was on one knee.
I cried and said yes!

How did you meet?
Francis and I met at his job. The story is quite funny. I was at the grocery store one day, and I was using my phone. I put my phone away for a minute or two (literally), and when I went back to grab it, it was not working. The crazy thing is I never dropped it or anything. I went into T-Mobile so they could troubleshoot it. Francis was the one to assist me in the process. I ended up getting an upgrade for my phone that day and an upgrade in my dating life too, lol! Francis put his number in my phone before leaving the store, and I saved it. We’ve been talking almost every single day since.
Tell us about the proposal
This was hands-down one of the most beautiful experiences I have had in my life. Francis had me going that day. We were having an anniversary celebration for his mom at a restaurant located in a beautiful garden. He had me dress up in something formal, made sure my makeup and nails were done, and that I looked and felt my best. Picked me up and then drove north, where we pulled into Longwood Gardens. I never remember a restaurant being in Longwood Gardens, but I went along with it all. Soon he stopped in front of the Italian Water Fountain. That’s when we became surrounded by close family, and friends slowly approached us with this look of awe on their faces as I greeted them all. By this time, I knew what was up. I turned around from greeting them, and Francis was on one knee. I cried and said yes!
Wedding Style
I would definitely say the wedding attire goal was to go for something very regal and timeless. I love style that’s not super trendy and will look classy for years or even decades to come. Understanding this about myself is what stemmed from the idea of having a subtle old-Hollywood glam wedding theme. Francis was down for the idea, and we went from there.
What was the wedding shopping experience like for you?
Caroline – It was really awesome. It was important for me to incorporate my close family members into the process and gain their opinions. I remember being really focused because I knew I wanted a very clean-looking dress. Minimal beading, not too much lace. I also knew I wanted sleeves (no flexibility there). So, it left me a little limited at first. However, I persevered. I believe I had about two or three appointments before finding ‘the dress’ and one more after it, just to be sure. Even though I had an appointment following finding the one, my heart was truly set on it.
Francis – For me, it was definitely wasn’t easy. The reason is I have not worn too many tuxedos in my life. However, after understanding the vision of the wedding theme, it was easy to bring my mom and my best man to help create the look together. Shopping at Saget’s was nice because they had a lot of options to choose from, making the vision easier to come together.
Did you incorporate any culture into your wedding?
Yes, we did! I’m from a Haitian background, and Francis is African-American. We took some direction from Francis’s culture and decided to do jumping the broom. We also did a unity lighting candle ceremony in the middle of our wedding ceremony.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
Caroline – There were so many favorite moments! I think my top three had to be first walking down the aisle and locking eyes with Francis – I remember feeling very confident and sure about what we were about to do together. Next would be being introduced into the reception venue while dancing to ‘Apesh%t”. The energy from all our friends and family was SO contagious. Next was our first dance. It felt like it was just us in the room while the world watched.
Francis – My favorite moment, honestly, was our first dance. I enjoyed having that time with Caroline despite having so many eyes on us. The world was ours, and we were able to dance to a song that we picked out together.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
Enjoy the moments together when planning. Though some things can be frustrating at times, those are moments you won’t be able to re-do. Understand your partner when engaged. Understand their strengths and weaknesses because that will signify how the remainder of the planning will go. For the wedding day, let any arising problem glide off you like oil. Issues will arise, but the more you let them prioritize your mind, the more it will rob you of the joy of the day. Slow each moment of the day down as much as possible. Whether that’s taking an extra minute to talk to that family member or taking a little longer to say your vows – be present and bask in it. Most importantly, never forget the purpose of the wedding day – one another! Always persevere.
