When Jade and Guy met during their high school senior trip, they started a friendship that eventually blossomed into love.
Jade went on to attend the University of Connecticut, and Guy attended Lincoln University at PA. However, being miles apart did not damper their love connection. They dated for eleven years, before Guy popped the question during a romantic dinner.
Their glamorous outdoor ceremony was full of beautiful greenery and breathtaking cream and gold decor. Guy was transfixed when he saw Jade walking down the aisle in her stunning form-fitting Jaye Applewaite gown. (Check out the photo!) They exchanged heartfelt vows, and immediately got the party started.
To celebrate their Caribbean roots, Guy and Jade hired a steel pan team to entertain guests during cocktail hour. Guests then transitioned inside to the opulent reception, where they had the opportunity to experience a traditional Trinidad rhythm section!

How They Met
Guy and Jade met during their high school senior trip. Their friendship blossomed into a love story as they attended separate colleges. Jade attending the University of Connecticut and Guy attending Lincoln University at PA. They dated for eleven years, as they both focused on their individual educational and professional development.
The Proposal
In February of 2017, Guy decided to pop the question. It was the weekend after Valentines Day, and Guy planned the perfect staycation in New York City. A hotel was booked for the weekend, and Guy made dinner reservations to start the long weekend. Little did Jade know, Guy planned on asking her to be his wife at dinner. And so he did, and she said, “YES.” After dinner, Guy arranged for Jade’s sorority sisters and his fraternity brothers to celebrate the new milestone in their lives, and this kicked off their engagement journey.
Wedding Style
Jade wore a custom made Jaye Applewaite gown. Jade’s gown was a perfect blend of modern and sexy. The gown was a stunning lace and tulle mermaid dress featuring a gorgeous plunging neckline and dramatic chapel length train. The dress featured a beautiful lace appliqués with beautiful subtle sparkles. The dress had subtle hints of blush pink throughout the bodice, skirt, and train. The bottom of the dress and train featured layers of tulle in various shades of ivory and blush, as well a scattered lace appliqués. The back of the dress featured a nude illusion panel with sparkling lace appliqués. And to complete the look the Bride wore a cathedral length veil designed by Jaye Applewaite.
Incorporation of Culture
Yes, Jade and Guy incorporated their Caribbean cultures into their big day, through music. During the Cocktail hour the guests enjoyed musical entertainment from a steel pan team. Also, during the reception, the guests had the opportunity to experience a traditional Trinidad rhythm section (also known as the “engine room”).
Best Wedding Memory
Guy’s best memory from the wedding was the moment he saw Jade walking down the aisle. For Jade, her top two memories were the vow exchange and the entire reception because the design was breathtaking and the music was “on point.”
Wedding Advice
Invest in a wonderful wedding planner who has your best interest at heart. Prior to our wedding, we heard so many stories about couples not being able to eat and/or not being able to truly enjoy themselves. That was not our experience at all. Our planner made sure that we had the opportunity to eat every course served. And we were able to hit the dance floor and enjoy time with each other and our guests.
