How did you meet?
We met each other because we both work at Bishop Glen Retirement in Daytona Beach, FL. I was the first to speak in the drink station at work and she totally ignored me and kept working. LOL! Eventually, I ask a friend of mine that work with us if he could ask some questions for me and get Dacia to hang out with us so I could get to know her better.
We started out as friends getting to know each other better each time we worked and then exchanged numbers. It was like talking with my best friend every day. We became inseparable and we loved spending time with each other especially when she would pick me up after my classes to hang out. We fell in love and it’s been growing each and every day!
Tell us about the proposal
We got engaged in Savannah, GA in front of friends and family. It was my graduation day which was a big accomplishment as I had completed nurse practitioner schooling. She took the initiative and reach out to all my family and friends to come to support me on my big day.
We had a private dining room for my group of family and friends at The Olde Pink House and during dinner, she pulled me to the middle of the floor and express her love to me even more, and presented me with a beautiful diamond ring. It was definitely magical and I could not help but cry as she was definitely nervous because the spotlight was all on her during this special time. Just being surrounded by people that genuinely love you was the best feeling ever.
Describe your wedding style
We both wore a custom-designed wedding dress and tuxedo all done by Inna Designs located in Lake Mary, FL. For Dacia’s suit, we incorporated the wedding color which was Tiffany blue and Ivory with lace added. My wedding dress was picked out of the four designs presented to me and as time went on we incorporated lace and other small details to the dress.
What is your best memory from your wedding?
One memory that would stick with us forever is our sister finding our dog that ran off in the busy streets of St. Augustine overnight. She was found safe and brought back to us the day of our wedding. Another memory was my bridal party getting me a birthday cake and singing happy birthday to me since my birthday was the next day after our wedding. First touch photos gave me butterflies and had me feeling nervous to actually walk down the aisle and see her smiling. Just being surrounded by love from the people that were there to celebrate us.
What is the best advice you can give to engaged couples?
Try to put a cap on wedding costs and stand firm on it as the little things can add up and we had to make ourselves stop spending money. If you can find a venue that will let you bring your own liquor, that’s a gem because an open bar is a lot depending on your number of guests and if you are a top-shelf drinker. Never let anyone decide for you. It is your wedding, plan it how you want it. Try to cut costs where needed and do DIY projects. Everyone can’t come to the wedding and that’s okay.
