Anxiety brought Allison and DeQuan together. It was the summer before Allison would enter college at the University of Miami and she was nervous to say the least. A mutual friend suggested Allison reach out to DeQuan as he would be attending the same university. Inspired by the idea of having a friend in Miami, she courageously sought out DeQuan Jones via Facebook and what began as a ploy to ease her nerves steadily turned into computer love. DeQuan requested that they take their conversation to AOL Instant Messenger where “mrcandyonchrome” would begin to charm his way into Allison’s heart. Amorous online messages graduated to text messages, text messages evolved into late night phone calls, and late night phone calls ignited DeQuan’s incessant daydreams about the woman he’d never met.
After some time the two finally met at the University of Miami’s Atlanta Summer Send Off, an event for Atlanta natives heading off to the University of Miami. “Out of all of the shirts in my closet, I chose to wear the ugliest Izod shirt I could find, not knowing that this would be the day that I would meet the most beautiful woman I had ever seen,” DeQuan shares. It was love at first sight for the impending freshmen and the beginning of their love story. For the next four years, the University of Miami would be the nest that nurtured Allison and DeQuan’s boundless love.
It was after DeQuan’s rookie season with the Orlando Magic, he and Allison had planned a celebratory and romantic vacation in Aruba. One night after dinner, DeQuan suggested that they take the scenic route back to their hotel. As they walked along the beach, he stopped, got down on one knee and asked Allison to be his wife. He purposefully proposed on April 29th, the anniversary of Allison’s father’s death, as a way to posthumously ask his father-in-law for his daughter’s hand in marriage.
Symbolizing their mutual love for the Theodore Witcher film and their now shared last name, hashtag LoveJones followed Allison and DeQuan on their wedding day. The bride honored her father with a bouquet composed of his ties and a locket with his photo. Their modern elegant wedding was housed in the W Midtown in Atlanta. Turquoise and purple radiated the space adding romance and whimsy to the event, while transparent chairs and metallic table coverings kept it stylish. A custom teal dance floor illuminated guests as they danced the night away in celebration of love. It was a truly enchanting night for the gorgeous couple.
