Channing and Robert’s love story began when Channing was asked to mentor Robert as a new hire to the company she worked for.
Their working relationship soon became a genuine friendship, and it wasn’t long before those friendly feelings began to evolve into romance. Channing and Robert were soon inseparable with a proposal on the horizon. Robert found their perfect proposal opportunity during a romantic dinner at the restaurant in which they had their first date. Robert and Channing were pronounced husband and wife during a gorgeous modern-glam wedding in St. Augustine, Florida – captured by MunaLuchi Coterie member Stanlo Photography.
Bride & Groom: Channing & Robert
Occupations: Dean of School Operations & Dean of Students
Wedding Date: June 14, 2019
Wedding Location: St. Augustine, Florida
How did you meet? Channing was a Project Manager at Communities In Schools and Robert was hired to be a Project Manager there. Their boss asked Channing to mentor and train Robert and they developed a friendship that eventually transitioned to a romantic relationship.
Tell us about the proposal. Robert took Channing to the restaurant where they had their first official date and proposed to her. He got down on one knee (with a beautiful rose gold ring) in the middle of the restaurant surrounded by cheering patrons. Although totally surprised and through many tears, she said yes!
Wedding style: The wedding was very formal. Guests were asked to wear After 5 formal attire so the wedding party was dressed to the nines. The wedding colors were rose gold and navy. The ten bridesmaids all wore rose gold sequin gowns that were each a different design. The groomsmen wore midnight navy tuxedoes. The bride and her mother searched high and low to find the perfect ceremony dress and a different dress for the reception. They initially settled on a custom Leigh Price gown that turned out to be a total disaster. Two months before the wedding Channing’s dress finally arrived and it was hideous. It was so bad the bridal shop gave us a full refund ( something that is usually not done). However, she had no dress and the wedding was in two months. We found a shop in Atlanta that assured us that they could deliver a dress in less than eight weeks. We flew to Atlanta and found the perfect dress. It was not custom but it was made to fit her perfectly and was delivered the week before the wedding. We wanted a custom dress for the reception and found a designer in Asheville, NC who created the perfect blush gown for Channing to change into. Robert wore a custom white dinner jacket for the ceremony and changed into a navy dinner jacket at the reception.
Wedding Party Gifts: The bridesmaids were all given swag bags with personalized robes, slippers, and jewelry to wear at the wedding. The groomsmen were given swag bags with cigars and rose gold tuxedo jewelry to wear at the wedding.
Gifts for Each Other: He gave her a rose gold (her favorite color) and diamond necklace and Gucci cologne. She gave him a watch and diamond earrings.
Ceremony Song: “I Believe In You and Me” by Whitney Houston.
First Dance Song: “The Only Reason” by JP Cooper.
What is your best memory from the wedding? Robert’s reaction when he saw Channing walking towards him. The tears and his facial expression showed all the love he felt for her at that moment.
What advice do you have for engaged couples? Do your homework and make sure you find a competent event planner. Ours had never done an event this size and was way over his head.
