Great Gatsby wedding in Miami, Florida transports guests to the roaring 20s party scene with snazzy attire, sequins, and glamorous decor.
Alexa and Willie’s Great Gatsby-inspired wedding was a night to remember! Taking place at the historic Alfred Dupont Building in Miami, Florida, the couple transported their guests to the roaring 20s. Decorating their venue with opulent floral decor, pastel pink feathers, and gold accents, their venue feels fresh yet seamlessly tied to the famous era. The couple’s attire also mirrored the times with Willie sporting a white tux and Alexa slipping into a sequined mermaid dress.
Following their ceremony, guests were welcomed to a night of dancing with great music and live performances by dancers dressed in iconic Flapper attire. Planner and Designer, Events by Carmen, absolutely adored their theme and went all out with their decor. She shares, “Huge floral arrangements decorated the staircase, stacks of champagne glasses formed a tower on the table, and soft, light tones of pink and creamy white colors were displayed everywhere you looked.” It was the perfect ode to The Great Gatsby’s famous parties.

How they met & the proposal…
We actually met in 2014 at a club in Miami. The funny thing is, the night I met him I told him that we would get married one day! I also initiated the conversation first, but from that moment we basically been inseparable. In June 2020, he proposed at our baby shower in front of all of our family and friends. It was very sweet and emotional.
Wedding theme inspiration…
We were mainly inspired by the “Great Gatsby” movie and the party scenes. We both love the 1920’s because it seemed so glamorous and we definitely wanted our wedding to be fun and glamorous.
Favorite wedding day details…
We loved everything! The whole experience was magical. I loved our vow books, because It’s something we can always keep to remember our wedding and the promises we made to each other. I also love that our pastor was able to do a french introduction during the ceremony because, I am Haitian and I have family members who do not understand English well.
Wedding style, attire, & shopping experience…
I purchased my wedding dress in New York City at Berta Bridal. I wore a Berta custom sized gown that I had previously seen on Instagram and adored. My husband wore a custom designed suit from Miguel Wilson Collection. He purchased it in Coral Gables.
Best wedding day memories…
Our favorite memories are getting ready with our wedding parties, walking down the isle and the whole reception. Basically, everything!
