Translating the beauty, heat, passion and culture of old world Cuba in modern day Washington, D.C. is no easy feat. However, Tiffany Rivera of Simply Breathe Events and coterie member, Erika Layne of Erika Layne Photography executed it with ease via this romantic editorial shoot. The models and real-life couple spied in the shoot are college friends of Tiffany’s and she knew the pair would serves as the perfect muses as they wholly embodied the spirit and passion she hoped to portray. To help complete the vision the pair solicited the assistance of fellow coterie members, Sabrina Hare of Couture Cakes by Sabrina and Kimberly White of Violet Garden Floral Designs.
The shoot, which took place at Perry’s Restaurant, located in Adams Morgan D.C., is interestingly a Japanese restaurant. However, the hidden gem lent itself as the ideal setting as its moody, yet bright colors flawlessly portrayed a laid back, vintage feel while highlighting Melissa and Jared’s mesmerizing love. Likewise, the team also incorporated fresh produce from local markets including dragon fruit (pitaya) and also picked up a case of Malta’s to add the perfect Latin American touch.
