The husband and wife photography team, Our Story Images, effortlessly captured Mijah and Dwane’s love story at Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Florida.
After Mijah and Dwane first met on their track and field team back in high school, their love story continued to grow and develop throughout their lives. Overcoming distance while Mijah was in the Air Force and starting a family together, it was only a matter of time before these two tied the knot.
They officially got engaged on Mijah’s birthday! Surrounded by their children, family, and friends, the pair celebrated their engagement with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. Their stylish Florida engagement session with a neutral color palette, earth tones, and nods to Spain was the perfect way to honor their upcoming November 2023 nuptials.
Photographer Soloman Johnson shared, “It was an awesome session. This couple is truly in love. They were high school sweethearts, and after college and the military, and two beautiful little girls later, they are still in love. We know their story well because Mijah is our niece.”

Tell us how you met and all about the proposal:
We met in high school after meeting on our track & field team (we also dated some in college and while Mijah was in the Air Force). We got engaged on Mijah’s birthday at a beautiful restaurant with both of our immediate families that live locally and with our daughter present. It was beautiful, we were all in tears. The dinner was fabulous.
Describe your engagement session. Did you have a theme?
Earth tones with intimate “Spain vibes” would be the theme I’d say. Our photographers were so enjoyable, as they directed certain poses they wanted to see, the chemistry we have and familiarity in front of the camera made it fun and exciting.
What did you do on your first date?
Great question! Neither of us can remember for certain, probably the movies.
What’s your favorite thing to do as a couple?
Travel, definitely.
How has wedding planning been so far?
It has been really exciting getting to orchestrate what our perfect event would consist of and look like.
Tell us what you’re looking forward to most on the wedding day.
Mijah: “Walking down the aisle with my husband for the first time”
Dwane: “Watching Mijah’s reaction to it all unfold.”
